    Hello guys,
First post here and it’s because I’m in desperate need of help. I’ve brought my truck in to Toyota 3 times In the past month and this will be the 4th. First time at 82k I brought it in for stuttering while accelerating. They replaced my whole transmission. My problem a little bit later is now when I drive somewhere, if I shut the truck off, I need to wait like 30-45 minutes or else it won’t start again. When pressing the button to start it goes into accessory mode only. It says engine on, and check charging like normal but the engine won’t even make a noise or turn over. They then replaced my starter. Issue is it’s still doing it. Battery was replaced last month and is still good (reader says 13.0v) new transmission, new starter. I’m so confused and lost please help! I’ll maybe upload a video if I can.(won’t let me upload video)

I’d take it back to who ever it was that replaced the starter, and tell them that didn’t fix the problem.

Unless someone has had the exact same failure we're not going to be much help. Most like a circuit board somewhere in the ignition system has gone bad. When it gets heat soaked the circuit is broken. The dealer/mechanic is going to have to get it hot enough to replicate the condition and the check the entire system for continuity.

I agree with Tnshooter. I had replaced a starter with a rebuilt one. It worked great. Until you wanted to use it again while it was still warm. A friend said replace it again which I did doubting but it fixed it. Good luck, it was only my experience so others may be right as well.

There is most likely an engine code at least pending for those no starts. You simply need a good tech to track it down. The crank position sensor, as noted above, is a well known culprit for the year of your truck. But, have a good tech look at it. That tech may not work at a Toyota dealership.

I’ll also bring this up to them. I don’t live so close to them so I hope they fix this crap so I don’t need to make it my daily weekend trip. I’ve been there so much the rental guy knows me by a first name basis and my request to drive a tundra. At least all the repairs have been free so far. I total at least 10k in repairs I didn’t have to pay.

Also, if all else fails, there is a guy out of State College PA that does phenomenal diagnostic troubleshooting. He has a company called Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostics. Check him out on YT. I know he travels all over the north east.

I’ll stick with Toyota for now just because I don’t wanna pay anything. If I get desperate I’ll check him out.

Have someone check that when you press on the brake that your brake lights come on.

What ended up happening? Did you find a solution? We are having the same/similar issue & nothing obvious (battery replacement, key fob replacement) has solved it.
