Am I over this thinking this. Does this look like normal wear. On a road trip at the moment don’t have the alignment form. (Finding a tech that knows the SPC uca on lifted vehicle is like finding gold in a mountain stream)

Looks like feathering/ slight cupping. Drives fine no pulling. Some road noise is what brought it to my attention and the faint feel of a mud tire when rolling at a slow speed.

    315/75/16
    Toyo AT3 load E
    35 cold psi

they are a little under inflated according to toyo recommendations and DT. I don’t wanna air up at 40+ psi. Cold.. e rated tires are bricks already.

    IMG_7414.jpg
front passenger side.. looks like feathering ? Feels looks same on the inner and outer edge of the tires

    same on driver side.

IMG_7413.jpg Driver side rear. Inner portion of tire.

they are 2 years old 25,000 on them
honestly I missed a rotation and need to check balance.

I got 17” wheels just waiting for these to wear out, but don’t wanna speed it up if i don’t have too.

It looks kinda like it to me as well, but honestly it’s hard to tell from the pics.

I have the exact same wear issue with my Grabber ATXs and between 30-40mph they’re louder than the mud tires I used to run and I can feel them slapping the pavement. Below 30mph and above 40mph they’re fine though.

I also missed one rotation because the dealership lied to me and claimed they rotated the tires when they didn’t (long story). So I had one 10K mile rotation interval and the rest have been 5K mile intervals.

Very normal, all terrains do this. To combat it, simply perform a diagonal tire rotation, this forces the edge wear to reverse and clean up.

I'm looking at it being 315's. The wider you go the more susceptible it probably is. Same goes for wheel offset.
Wide tire/+offset vs. skinnies on a negative.
Using 4wd on dry pavement conditions is rough on them as well.

All things considered, it looks like normal tire wear to me. As to increased noise, I think most (maybe all) tires, especially more aggressive treads, get louder as they wear.

Cross rotation sounds like a good idea. But I think your tires look fine, with minimal feathering, which is normal.

With E rated tires the edges barely touch at 30psi, most have to run 25psi to get the chalk test to pass, which is unsuitable for the truck.

I've given up on getting even wear and prefer to have load capacity in check.

I wouldnt go lower than 35psi on a E tire on tacoma anymore. It's not meant to be there in the first place, so abnormal wear is... normal.

Thanks. I was tempted to go 30 psi. I’m gonna go with load c tires next. Ride is harsh for me

I load my pig up and blast down really bad roads so I'm stuck with E's. I have SL winters that give me a break for 4 months every year though.

Everything is a compromise. You are right though, the AT3 is louder than most people expect. Falkens are much quieter.
