My truck came with the factory tonneau cover with the notches cut in the bed rail caps. I now have a camper shell and I think a lot of dust works in under these caps and they are textured making it harder to seal.

I've seen some aluminum replacement caps for 2nd gens but not for 3rd gens yet. I was also thinking maybe just get some neoprene and remove the plastic caps altogether and that might make a better seal. Anything that needs to snap back into the holes on the top means it's not going to seal, so just removing and using the neoprene seems like it should work since the shell will keep it in place.

Has anyone found a good alternative that's smooth on top and will also seal all the holes underneath?

My thinking was to remove the rails and replace with something else, but maybe there is a good reason to leave them and just seal.

I found this video from Super Pacific that might be a good solution.
