Four years, nothing. Other day, guy parks on top of me. I drove away, stop look don't see anything, wash it and I can see the channel from the door corner.
Now I'm looking for legit sliders that transcend urban and rural.
Shipping to New England, Cali., RCI, who is good these days. Will 20° protect against door swing and shopping carts?
Anybody new? Anybody looking to sell? Suggestions?

I personally like the RCI style, it protects but only extends far out in the rear.

I'd be tempted to buy it bare and have a local undercoating shop coat it with what they recommend.

I bought 6" wide running boards for that exact reason. They stick out past tires. They work, found other color paint chips on them.
If you get 8", they work even better.

I wish had been a bit higher, ala sliders, but cannot argue with price.

PS, I have mud flaps, but steps still catch stones, from time to time also (they are hollow, so a stone strike resonates pretty loudly), so they protect from below also.

No running boards. All in sliders or nothing. Shipping costs crush the soul.

I have the Cali raised 25 degree and they do NOT protect against door dings. I think they'd have to be like 10 or 15

They need to extend past the midline (fattest part) of the door. Taco doors are not flat, neither are other cars'. Sliders or running boards need to extend far enough out to stop the bottom of their door before middle of their door hits yours.
    )_( kinda like that.

RCI had the most coverage of them all. JDFab just released new ones.

i bought my RCIs used a while ago for like $300. It is not uncommon to see used sliders for that amount.
After being quoted $400 to sandblast and re powdercoat I plan to chip the rust off and apply cheap kit of POR15.

I got, and would advise getting some 5 degree RCI sliders. Don’t PC sliders. That’s a waste of money and PC won’t touch up well after it gets used and scraped up. I just cleaned them up and used Steel It paint. No primer needed. If you need to touch it up, just sand down the area, and hit it with a few coats of Steel It. It’s not super cheap, but neither is your Tacoma or door dings.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
I would just bolt them on, unless your wheelin your rig hard.

X2 on the Steel-It paint or your rattle can of choice. The powder coating just won’t hold up in this area and will look like shit if you try and touch them up.

Sliders will protect from some dings but not all. Depends on the shape of the offending door or cart.

Also doesn't protect fore or aft of the slider.

Not saying you shouldn't have some. They are great for many reasons. Just don't expect perfect protection from the filthy animals in parking lots. :D

I agree with having some good sliders. I think they work well against ‘neighbor doors’ in parking lots and when you are out on trails. 20230704_075213_Original.jpg

I think they say these are 5 degree or something like that. But I have the RCI sliders and they do stick out far enough to protect the doors and the kick out in the back is an added bonus. I went flat for my toddler to use to get into the truck and with the kick out it works surprisingly well. I used to be skeptical parking next to people cause they just don’t care. But with the sliders I don’t really worry about it anymore. Plus you can get them around 1000 shipped with a solid RCI sale
