Good morning shop crew. Hope it was a great weekend for you, back to the grind now

 

Morning all start of the work week for me. Had all last week off. Hauled the family to Wisconsin to visit an old friend. Beautiful country up there! My buddy even set me up with new work boots! Thorogood, talk about nice. And usa made! now to break them in.

Went to my buddy's last week to cut a fallen tree for fire wood, turns out it's Walnut. So Now I got 4 slugs of walnut, maybe 12-15" in diameter if I had to guess. And a bunch I cut in quarters before I realized what it was. Dunno if its worth anything to anyone or if I can do anything with it. I'm not much of a woodworker.

 

Love my thorogood's, very little break in required. One of the best boots on the market imo.

Find a local guy with a woodmizer portable sawmill. Sell it to him. He will love you long time.
The tree ranges from $5- $10 per board foot, although it can cost more depending on other factors. In most cases, your 20-inch tree can fetch you $700- $800. You should be able to get $200-$250 as raw log.

 

Its not that much. By slug, I mean like 10" lengths. I was cutting it up for firewood before I knew what it was.

 

oh. I thought it was 8 feet slugs lol.

 

I'm thinking about making my wife some 1" rounds, and maybe a bowl or something out of one.

 

Yea, I made coasters, bowls, and a few wood toys when I have good scraps. I even made a charred shot glass!
