2004 Tacoma 2.4. I ordered one about a year ago and when I just got around to replacing it I have the wrong one. The auto parts store is asking about an immobilizer…not sure what that means? I do have tilt steering and I believe that is where I went wrong with the first part. Are the immobilizer and the the tilt the same thing? Thanks

Typical immobilizer checks the key (fob or whatever), determining if it’s legitimate. If so it will start the car, if not it will not start the car.

I don't believe 1st gens had an immobilizer, at least I've never seen one that had it.

Toyota chipped (immobilizer) keys will either have a ● or G stamped into the blade of the key.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
I have never seen a first generation with a chipped key.
