I bet the tuning is much easier on your back! You were going pretty steady for a while there

Got my full size spare installed today. I’m going to try and not use it until I buy a new set of tires and then it will be in a 5 tire rotation. The leak is now sorted between the rear cases, but after driving the truck more today I realized I have a driveline vibration under hard acceleration only. The guys at Tom woods told me I’d probably need some 3* axle shims but I wanted to see how it was before ordering them. Got some on order so we’ll see if that helps. Angle at the rear pinion doesn’t look happy though.

Per their website the angle between the rear driveshaft and rear pinion should be minimal. My driveshaft angle is 9.2* and rear pinion is 4.6* so I have a total difference/working angle of 4.6*.

Here’s the preliminary mockup for sealing up the floor. The metal frame for this toyota boot interferes with mounting brackets on both sides of the console and the floor is not level in this area, so this could be a challenge to make it look nice. The plan is to form this to the floor and secure it. Then I’ll use some foam stripping near the back edge to seal that and build a bracket to go from the right rear fastener location to the bracket for the e-brake cable. The issues I’m trying to overcome here are that the e-brake cable needs to be able to move freely and slide under the back 1/4” of the boot. The boot also needs to form over the top of the cable on the right side near the middle. Still waiting on the console to come in and then I’ll start finalizing everything and relocating the shifter handle. I also ordered an NST water pump/fan pulley for the 2.7. That will take about 3-4 months to make but the ball is rolling on that. Hopefully the OE motor hangs on till then so I get a chance to try it out!

Blue Dog Designworks 3D printed cup holder came in yesterday. Got the AWD shifter relocated this morning. I cut it off, moved it back about 1.5” and rotated the stick so it wouldn’t interfere with the console/cupholder. Feels like I must have test fit it 50 times, but it turned out pretty nice. I have about 1/4” of clearance at the front and rear in high unlocked and low locked. Time to seal up the floor, get some sound deadener for the cupholder, and build a wire to hold the rear upper boot.

here’s some pics of the cupholders. I’m really pleased with the quality, it fits great other than needing to trim the stock console a little. Uses the yellow factory clips to stay in place too!

Thanks fellas! Pretty happy with how it’s turning out. Just need to sort out the last shift boot and then hopefully this project will be drawing to a close. Im tracking down a leak between the trans and crawl box now lol. Hoping it was just some fluid that got past the trans output when I was stabbing it into the motor. Looking like it might be coming back out though

Got the boot finished and installed today. I used some spare wire I had from a 6MT Fj cruiser boot to build a wire for the 3D printed cupholder. Tig welded a couple of pieces together and it fit pretty well. At that point I handed it over to my mom and she made the A/T Fj cruiser shift boot fit on the wire I made. I used some 3M VHB tape to hold it to the bottom of the console. Looking back, I should have asked for some tabs to be 3D printed around the cutout for the wire. Pretty happy with how it turned out though!

Reinstalled the camper today, then I took the passenger window apart and made a template for the front one, which I broke a few months ago. Also ordered some tinted Lexan so I can make my own window to repair that. The goal is to have this thing usable again for cheaper than what a dealer wants for the entire side window

    Looking good
If this cupholder becomes available to sell to the rest of us I encourage you to forward the request of tabs to the manufacturer :boink:
