I didn't see any threads for Shamrock or Appalachian Trail(formerly Toyota) Roundup anywhere and I don't see it discussed much. Figured this could be the spot for trip reports, photos from the events or even just the park.

Who's coming, what rig are you bringing, and is this your first go? What Prep are you doing?

Post up your pics, tells us about the shenanigans you got up to, what to avoid or where to go!

So who all's making it out in a few weeks to Windrock for ATR 2023?
So far all I know is @CygnusX191 @Sasquatch3153 and I. It'll be my first time out.

I saw on google there's an old train out there so I'm definitely putting that on the short list!

I present my piece of shit, AKA the PiGFB_IMG_1679361714298.jpg

I almost rolled it back in March :anonymous:FB_IMG_1679026339278.jpg FB_IMG_1679026344646.jpg

    Luckily I saved itFB_IMG_1679026351135.jpg

Also I don't think you can get to the train now. The tunnel you had to drive through is officially closed so there's no access

Sadly missing this yr again I will be getting hitched the weekend after no time to wheel. But moving forward I may start bring both shitboxes to these events. Yota is getting torn down and Heep is torn down getting front end welded back up.

    Yeah. They closes Nemo.
I haven’t been in years. Don’t know if there is another way in or not?
Last time I was there I rolled my 4-wheeler and limped around for a week.
    Haven’t been back since.

Yeah I was scared shitless and that was in the 1st night lol. Soon as I got the truck on all 4s I jumped out lit a cigarette. My legs were shaking so bad they almost gave out. Any slight movement and the truck would shift. I will say those bead grips on the method wheels are strong. The entire truck was leaning on the front driver tire. If I was still running my old FJ wheels I would've definitely broke a bead and flopped

Which train and what tunnel. The train we'd go to you just hop out of the park go down the road a bit then turn at a mill and drive behind it. The trails to that train I know have been washed out really bad the past few yrs and from what I heard they weren't going to repair them.

That's a bummer. Out here at Kansas Rocks we have 'the Barn' as a landmark everyone stops and takes photos in front of, so I assumed the train was Windrock's and something they'd keep access to.

You should still be able to get to the train that's in my sig pic. It is just outside the park. Also the prison is cool to go to.

So the trails to the train were on private property and maintained by the owner. He had signs posted to not tear up the entrance and to NEVER drive across the live tracks. This idiot went across the tracks and his truck died on them and got smacked by a train. Then promptly the trail to get there was closed off.

"A fence has been installed and No Trespassing signs are present. The train area is closed as of June 2022."

I went out to ATR in 2017, had a blast. I'm angling to do it again this year, if I get my truck squared away.

What all do you need to knock out? I've got to get my sliders finished. Running out of time...

Brake fluid and remove my sidesteps/mudflaps. It's got no skids/sliders/armor/etc so I'd be on EZ trails/bypasses 100% of the time this time out, but I remember ATR being reasonably easy on stock rigs if you're not dumb. Next year, I'd like suspension/sliders/skids, but obviously that's dreaming a little.

I agree, he was an ignoramus. Could've been avoided and ended up smashing a classic truck.
