Stiff ride!

    Had the same problem. People who say "welcome to a truck" have never ridden in an F150.

    Was getting beat up going down the road. The stock leaf springs are pretty bad. I'm no expert but observing them, they are over sprung, don't have enough lift and when you hit the progressive part of the leaf you are pretty much on the axle bump stop. I was also having to tighten up the valving in the shock to prevent bouncing, which was a double whammy. And b/c I have Bilstein 8100's I wasn't using much of the stroke in the rear (didn't have the lift), unless I inflated my air bags to get more lift, which made everything even stiffer.

    I went with Icon RXT"s at their Stg1 setting and saw a pretty dramatic improvement, combined with reducing the compression and rebound valving in my shocks and running my air pressure at 32-36 PSI. When I tow, I run the tires at 51 PSI for stability, inflate the air bags (15-20 pis with WDH), and tighten the up the compression and rebound valving.

    I'm sure the new tacoma with coil springs is better in some ways. Trucks are such a difficult proposition - to make something with such an imbalanced weight distribution be able to ride well and carry a heavy load has to be challenging for suspension engineers. IMO you have to have adjustability.
