Lol keys to fucking what? How would the keys be there if it's on a fucking transport?

Holy shit Friday is hitting hard. Also it's not shady it is just bizarre that OP didn't want to look at the truck first thing, but I mean were the alleged 'weirdos' supposed to wait until he was out of finance and walking out the door and be like, "gotcha you don't have a truck, here's some potatoes?"

OK -sounds like you bought the truck sight unseen. Mistake #1

    1) Do you have insurance on the truck? You should have this truck added to your policy immediately. Right now, any damage done to the truck while it sits on the car carrier or during removal is on you. You own it now, not the dealer.

    2) There is absolutely no way I would let some kid drive my brand new truck 2 hours to “VIP deliver it”. Do you think the person delivering the vehicle is going to baby it for two hours or hoonigan it for 1:50 (then baby the last ten minutes). I know what I’d do. (Plus, you already signed the paperwork, so anything that happens to the truck on the way to your house is on you, not the dealer).

At this point I would return to he dealer and demand the paperwork you signed be destroyed. Keep the deposit down for your truck.

Tell them that when the truck you want is on site and dealer prepped ready for delivery, you’ll be there to pick it up.

Right now you are so upside down on liability, I’d be tempted to have an attorney with me just in case.

Jesus Christ, what a shitshow... It really is Friday.

OP, I mean this with the most sincerity, the internet calls you a fool for a reason. Accept responsibility and use this moment as an important life lesson. Is it completely irresponsible to empty your savings for a truck? Yes. Is it completely irresponsible to sign something for a vehicle you've never even driven or seen? Yes. Have I, along with others in this thread done the same thing when we were younger? Also yes.. You live, you learn. We can tell you've got a lot of growing up to do and have no real concept of certain aspects of the world and how they work, but you'll learn - unfortunately, some of us learn things the hard way.

On a positive note, its not a complete shitshow, just be patient. You really think those vehicles aren't insured? You really don't think the transport company isn't doing everything possible to get their unit back up and running? You have any idea how much money is lost when big trucks are just sitting? Sure, it sucks.

The most reasonable thing you should do is call and speak with your dealer, vocalize your understanding and concerns regarding the situation, and politely ask about solutions. Its not gonna be what you hope or want, but you actually do have a pretty good leg to stand on if you just act professional and request a loaner until its resolved.

Mine is a sad tale. Couple of weeks ago the main refrigerator takes a crap. We are 150 miles from anywhere but nothing new, been out here since 1994. I figured I would find a trailer and go get a new fridge since the broke down one was over 10 years old. My wife finds out that a place out of Lake Havasu delivers to our little town and we get the new fridge "the next day." Heck, they even haul away the old POS. I go online a put my order in pronto to be sure and get that sucker "the next day." I am suppose to get a text that night giving me a 4 hour window when fridge will be delivered. I do get a text that night explaining that my purchase has been redirected to the Southern California area. I could expect the fridge to arrive in a couple two weeks. So I call them to cancel the order so I can go pick up another fridge somewhere. They explain that the order was to sent to the Palm Desert area store. Oh goody, I can pick it up right there. We were lucky to catch the last day of a sale and got 600 bucks off. We find out we can have the fridge delivered in just a couple of days and since it is middle of the week I figure that sounds good. So guess what happens, guess? The delivery truck breaks down with our Fridge on it. Yep, true story. Anyways, a week and 1 day after that, the day our Fridge was stranded on the broke down truck, our Fridge arrives. The brought the new refrigerator into the kitchen, offered to set it up, and hauled the old POS off. So I guess it happens sometimes...

So they didn't sell your fridge to another person? Did you raise hell with the salesperson about how shady it was?

Well the day I sat around waiting for it and it never showed up. My wife called them twice asking for an ETA, since we didn't get the 4 hour window notice that day. The second time she called them at around 4pm they let her know the truck was broke down. She may have informed them that they could have let her know that is may not arrive that day. Other than that, I never figure that raising hell with a person working by the hour is gonna come to any good.

OK I have tried really hard to establish a timeline with you here. But this is becoming difficult.
    1. You stated that they told you on SUNDAY that the truck will be there MONDAY.
    2. You stated that you came in on WEDNESDAY... so You didn't ask where it was? Or Even take a look at it? After all this waiting since MAY per your earlier posts you didn't want to see it?
    3. Both Tacomas I have purchased had the keys in front of me when buying the truck (even though I test-drove both but that's another matter). How are they selling you a truck that doesn't seem to exist on WEDNESDAY and why are they walking in on this process mid-way through with 4 people and the supposed GM.
    4. Have you talked to the GM? What does your salesman say? No one knows is NOT a good enough answer. It is now FRIDAY?! Did the truck appear or wtf is going on?

You have cited the church goer/god fearing thing - unless you know them personally, that should not be a reason to just assume they are gonna do right by you.
I'm not trying to start anything but I've seen enough to know there are good and bad people of every color/religion/creed..

My state has a law like this and I have a friend who wound up on the short end of the stick - despite explicitly asking about prior damage.

OP - In all seriousness, I hope you have learned from this.
I mostly hope that your truck shows up sans damage, you can be on your way a week later and put this behind you.

I also hope you do not trust this dealership anymore!
I wouldn't even let them change the oil on my truck - plenty of bad stories about that even going sideways around here..

People will say/promise you the moon and back - until they either deliver or put their $$ where their mouth is, it is all hollow bullshit.

    GO FRIDAY!

I just went through some appliance woes myself. My washing machine decided that it wasn't going to spin or drain anymore. Darn thing was so obsolete that the parts to refresh it had become eBay gold. So off to Best Buy I go, to see what was on the floor. I find a model that's reasonable and plonk down my credit card. They started talking about scheduling delivery and I said "No, damnation, I needs to do laundry now. I'm down to my last pair of daisy dukes. I'll just pick up what you have and be on my way."

Turns out that Best Buy keeps nothing in the back anymore. Thanks, internet. The nearest pickup location was at their trucking hub 30 miles away. So off I zoom before they close. 60 mile round trip in burnt gasoline. And then I think well maybe I can scrap the old one and cash in on some of that sweet craigs money. Turns out that no one wants the parts that I have. Whole week goes by, no bites. Not even when I changed the price to free.

Screw it, I think. I'll just haul it to the dumpster at work and be rid of it. No dice. The dumpster crew somehow spotted the gleaming white corner of appliance amongst a pile of expired lab chemicals and sacks of half-eaten lunches. They said "not gonna pick it up until you find a new home for that." I nearly popped a hernia fishing it back out of the dumpster, under threat of being put on a performance write-up for my efforts. That washing machine had to sit in my truck for a whole week and a half until I could finally deliver it on my free-landfill Saturday for June. I had to delay my camping trip a whole 'nother week for it.

    Worst summer ever, man.

This does feel like a trolling...
it is just so unlikely... I guess this is the reason this gained so much attention...

    sigh.

When my Taco was delivered, I asked the sales lady to confirm she had touched it herself before I set off on my 470 some mile trip to pick it up.

I got there like at 8pm a few days later, The first thing she did, despite the late hour, was to take me to see 'my' taco. (Without me asking - but I have definitely asked before sitting down to do paperwork.)

She was proud to show it off...m

I mostly wanted to confirm the manual gearbox was there. and that it did NOT have an oem roof rack. Only when confirmed, did I admire it / inspect it..

I was also happy to find a stack of additional accessories thrown in the bed free pf charge - whixh they had originally declined to throw in....

After the wait, the drive, the anticipation- what else would be logical to expect?
You HAVE to confirm the goods exist.

Especially for a trd buyer. - nothing against the lower trims, but if I'm buying a work vehicle, in that case, it is not too exciting of an occasion... still, Id want to see it.

I would not have signed / handed over my check without a truck. Id just come back when the taco is there...

I suspect that in this case, there was a bit of damage to take care of...

Nice fridge! This thread actually has some worth now!

The freezer on my 12 year old $1600 Whirlpool recently started to cycle to defrost mode on it's own. If I trip the circuit breaker in the morning and evening, it clears the control board out and goes back to freezing. Needless to say, this is not feasible, so I had the gas company repairman come out and check it. (I have a service plus contract with them that covers a bunch of my appliances, gas or electric.) So, he says the circuit board is shot and Whirlpool no longer supplies that particular panel. No new old stock anywhere. I found a couple places that sell a used one for $60. Worth a shot. Worst case scenario, I STILL end up shelling out a grand or more for a new one. We'll see.

Back to "worthy-of-a-heartache" transport trailer breaking down! I LOVE FRIDAYS!

Yeah kinda difficult to keep up with at this point. It seems like dealer spoke with OP sunday; said it'd be in Monday; OP made appt for pickup Weds; OP showed up Weds, signed for a truck that wasn't there, with expectation that it was there; in that process, dealer informs OP they mistakenly thought his truck was on the Sunday shipment (and somewhere in their lot), its actually on the Weds shipment, and dealer will deliver to OP Thurs; After that discussion and agreement, its learned that the carrier with OP's truck is actually broken down and no ETA.

Moral of the story, don't go signing papers for anything sight unseen..

Don't worry OP, you'll get your truck and it will be beautiful. Stupid last minute delays seem to be common. My truck was supposed to be delivered with a load of Tacomas the last week of August 2022. Dealer ordered my tires, lift kit, exhaust, bed mat etc. Truck shows up without my Tacoma. Everybody is puzzled. Blah blah blah my Taco sits at the rail yard for a month and I finally get it the last week of September.

    It is beautiful though!

If its real, I hope this kid gets his truck but takes away that you should never buy sight unseen, and never "empty your savings" for an asset that only drops in value.

Whether real or fake, I laughed harder at this particular post than I have in quite a while so I appreciate that
