Hi all really need some help here,

    I purchased a brand new 2023 Tacoma on June 28, 2023.

Traded in my 2018 Tacoma TRD Sport Manual.

I swapped my K&N cold air intake, tonneau cover and aftermarket TRD pro grill with 4 LED lights.
--The Lights are connected to the fuse box with an add a fuse along with the ground attached to the truck under the bolt on the left side of vehicle.

I am now having electrical issues a month later the reinstallation of TRD grill and lights.
Truck started with 25km and now has 5000K (Drive a lot for work)

Electrical issues are unable to be diagnosed by dealer after a preliminary inspection.
    --Issues include:
    1. First day I noticed (August 6th.), in the morning coming out to my truck, open the door and the ventilation system has been running all night, light is still on for the air on the center panel.
--Played a round of golf. Came out to the truck and it was off back to normal. park the truck at home that night
    2. Second day, (August 7th) come out in the morning, my brake lights are on, headlights on and the ventilation system is once again on with display still on.

Dealer cannot guarantee that the addition of the add a fuse did not send a back signal and mess up the computer system. This means they could stick me with the bill and this wouldn't be under warranty.

On their preliminary inspection the truck thinks the key is still in the ignition when there is no key. They also removed the steering panel and there are no wires that have been manipulated.

I currently am absolutely pissed off that a brand new truck is having electrical issues. My 2018 had the exact same set up for over 2 years and I never experienced any issues.

If any of you have any guidance or resolutions for me it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks...

Start with disconnecting the lights and any other aftermarket electrical doodads. It will most likely fix the issue, but if it doesn’t, then they can diagnose and repair under warranty,,, unless they believe your electrical modifications damaged something.

Been there done that. Removed the add a fuse, replaced the original fuse and I am still having the same issue.

I even went as far as (while the key is out of ignition and the lights are on) pulling the fuse which supplies power to the lights... Lights stay on. Something weird is going on within the electrical.

Plan is to remove the lights and bring back to OEM. Try another dealer...

maybe call the same dealer back, let them know you have removed the mods, still have the same issues, and want them to look at it again?
unless you didn't get a good feeling from them. If they filled a ticket for warrant, and denied it, there is a good chance this is logged in a system other Toyota dealers will see.

How did you get the wiring into the cab to the fuse block? A lot of people have nicked wires causing shorts while pushing the new wiring through the firewall bundles.

if the lights are on with the fuse for them pulled you either:
    a) pulled the wrong fuse
    b) the fuse box is wired/labeled incorrectly from the factory
    c) a short was created

That’s the worry. I believe since they know I added those lights they may lie about the real cause of the problem

    No wiring into the cab.

wiring from trd pro grill raptor lights.
Wires go from front grill under the hood directly to fuse box

Or possibly you have initiated the "warranty expired" codes in your CPU. When the warranty runs out, all kinds of electrical gremlins are released.

You mentioned truck is fine until morning. If this is correct you may be getting moisture into the electrical system. Depending on where you live dew or humidity might be your culprit.

If you removed the correct fuse that provides power to your headlights and the headlights remained on then you have damaged wiring inside a bundle somewhere. I’d start tracing wires and figure out where that is, you might find a rodent was in the engine bay chewing on wires.

Your brand new truck has no issues. Your aftermarket wiring has issues that messed up the truck.

I have read over 10K posts here, where people come to complain. Out of those 10K posts, I have read exactly one post that had a wiring issue from factory. Good luck but look in the mirror for the blame.

@holobow: What previous 3 posts wrote. The easiest solution, is change out wiring harness where the lights hooks up to in fuse box, and replace fuse box. You have to pay for it, no warranty, or chase out shorted out wire that controls lights.
