in the middle of driving (in rain) my interior lights came on with the enoying door chime and said my rear passanger door was open. pulled over and checked everything out. door was indeed closed and the little button inside the door wasnt stuck or anything. I managed to get the interior lights off but the chime drove me crazy. And i cant lock my doors now either
    Any known issues with this??

    possible defective switch?
remove switch & short the wires & see if that solves the problem.

Do you think it doesn't lock because it thinks the doors are open? Normally there is a fast beep warning you about that.

Or has the lock feature just quit altogether?

Will they lock using the buttons on the inside? As in lock the doors at the drivers door and then close it?

What happens to the dome lights then?

Any wiring modifications under dash that might have tapped into any of those circuits?

OTOH, you could just take it in for warranty work. Right? Or is it too late?

BTW, I have a write up on how to do a reversible disable the key in ignition based door ajar alarm. It takes about 10 minutes to accomplish.

But, in your case, you need to make sure everything else is in order before addressing that.

I would test the switch on the door that is being indicated before anything else.

i pushed the the sensor switch in as much as i could and the door ajar picture didnt go away, it wasnt sticky either..no mods. the dome light stayed on while i was driving but i was able to turn it off when i parked. i didnt look back to see if the dome light was on when I left for work. hope it doesnt drain the battery. pretty sure it wouldnt let me lock the doors cuz it thinks theres a door open still.
im not messing with it myself i will bring it in tomorrow for warranty. if their busy tomorrow I might demand a rental and leave it there cuz the chime wont go off while in drive, and the doors wont lock. pretty sure i payed for emergency rentals with toyota care. seems like an emergency to me right?? lol
were getting 15cm snow tomorrow and i have to drive up north. was hoping to take the truck over the miss's sante fe.

Damn, hope you got it all out and the connectors are good...

I think I'd take that kick plate off and apply di-electric grease to all connectors in there, so they don't corrode and cause an issue later...
I doubt the dealer would do that..!!

    Good luck...

Hello, i have the same issue. Also noticed it while it was raining. Its my driver side door but I think its definitely from water getting in. Did they have to replace a module or change the wire that shorted out? Any more details on what to look at?

When I was a small lad, about 10 years old, I wondered to myself whilst in the back seat of a '67 Impala doing 65 on the freeway,
and being curious, I asked myself, will the door open if I pull the lever?....

    Duh...
