Cool idea, I wonder how much time that whiskey actually spends at sea?

I’d love to try this before committing to a bottle. Cheers.

Fresh bottle crack for fRYEday. Pretty good, a lot “smokier” than I expected.

    Fresh crack FRYEday here too.

So far it's an even match between the two, neither of us has been able to choose a winner.

Both have classic rye taste in a good way

Picked up these cousins today. Also got a handle of Evan Williams for mixing, it’s up $3.50 to $20.99 :annoyed:

I picked up 2 a few weeks back.

I tried last years batch at a bar and it was excellent. Bought this year's without hesitation.

I like the Still Austin Cask strength, it’s worth the 50 bucks I see it for

Yes we blinded it. I am a big fan of the regular Lot 40 so as soon as I nosed the glasses I picked it out. In the end the Sagamore Double Oak juuuuust barely edged out the Lot40 Dark Oak.

We agreed the L40DO had more richness to it but a slight funk we couldn't identify that kept it from being the winner. Overall both really solid examples of a Rye. I'm more and more impressed with Lot 40 offerings as time goes on, especially for the price. This one was $42, the standard is $30

I really like the Still Austin Cask. There was so much hype around in on social media I started to think it was all paid product placement. Was pleasantly surprised. Little different than what I'm used to but in a good way. Some different spice to it. I just booked a tour of their distillery for late September. Looking forward to that.

Went looking for a Col Taylor to add to my collection. First store said if they had any, they were locked up in the managers office. The second store I went to said I had to buy one of their store picks to be able to buy a Col Taylor. So I ended up with this Freeland Spirits, they said it’s a Cabernet finished cask. So I’ll see how it compares to the Chattanooga version which I think is rather tasty

IMG_3511.jpg Decided on a little BT to round out the evening.

Wow that’s a shitty way to clear out their store picks that otherwise aren’t moving.
