Hello, I’ve read a lot here off and on since 2020 but first time posting!

I’ve read a lot of threads about the stock Pro suspension and 285/75r16’s and thought I’d add my recent experience for anyone considering the bigger tires.

I’ve been running a Bridgestone Dueler Revo 3 in the 265/75r16 size for close to three years and had great luck with them in snow and rain. Also got 77,000 miles out of them and they actually still had decent tread left but were starting to slip just a little in the rain if I really got on it taking off from a dead stop.

I wanted the same tire, just another size up and did a bunch of reading about the 285’s and it seemed like most folks had decent luck with the wild peak AT3’s without rubbing on the stock Pros, and they are almost identical to the Revo 3’s (Revo’s are same diameter, .2” wider) so I thought I’d take my chances and give it a shot.

local shop put the tires on and did an alignment. Said no rubbing and no issues. They said they were able to hit the stock alignment specs and it was all good. I was surprised bc I expected some minor rub with the mudflaps on. Of course in reality I rubbed three times on the way home.

It was very noticeable and loud when I rubbed. Obviously took the mudflaps off as soon as I was home.
    CAF4F8AF-35A5-4D61-9B6B-74DE3F6CE911.jpg

After taking them off and removing the small tab at the back of the wheel well, I don’t seem to have anymore issues with wheel well rubbing.

This is the clearance now at the tightest spot (about 3/4 of the way to locked) and after driving it pretty hard on curvy roads and significant bumps (multiple railroad tracks that are pretty rough), I have not seen anymore rubbing in the wheel wells. I don’t off-road much, just a couple times a year so this seems alright for most of my driving.

After my test drive I did notice minor rubbing on the UCA. I don’t know when it happened, I did not hear anything or feel it, but it’s clearly there. For now I guess I’ll just keep an eye on it it. May try to have the alignment redone as well as I’m not super happy with the numbers they provided.

Just another data point for anyone considering the bigger tires, thanks!

Very nice. Just a tip a little tweaking might help with rubbing and you can open the bottom hole on the mud guards and move the guards back almost an inch. It worked for me and a good alignment for me to not rub on my 285s.

Any pics? I am having a hard time visualizing in my head. I havent lifted but put 265/75 on with spacers and they only rub on the mudflaps so would like to know more about your solution

As an update, I had the alignment re-done with the caster moved to 2.7 on both sides. No more rubbing in the wheel wells that I can tell after testing. I also had them aim for a camber of 1. They got a 1 on one side and a 0.7 on the other. No more rubbing on the upper control arms, but it now pulls to the left. When I picked it up they also told me they would not warranty the tires anymore because that alignment would cause excess wear, even though it’s still within the factory specs (1.2 max camber spec). I’m pretty fed up with this shop after them not mentioning that BEFORE they re-did the alignment to those numbers, not to mention the multiple times last week they told me there was no rubbing when my mudflaps clearly showed otherwise. When I asked if they checked for rubbing after the second alignment yesterday they said they “didn’t hear anything when moving it from the bay to the parking spot so it should be good.” I will probably end up taking it somewhere else to get the camber to match on both sides to try to fix the pulling. May also back off on the camber a little and target 0.8 to try to minimize the excess wear on the outside a hair. I know it won’t do a whole lot but any bit should help I guess. I’ll probably just have to rotate them more often.

I just went 285/75R16 on my 2021 Pro wheels and Pro suspension and I also had same slight rub where you had it. I have not gone in for alignment just yet though.

Did you ever get a picture/better description on how the mud guard was moved? Thanks

Nice review for those considering a move up in tire size! I was afraid of running into rubbing issues on my 2017 so I just went ahead and pulled the trigger on the Westcott TRD Preload collar kit.

2” spacer in rear, front is 5 1/2” wider than stock with Marlin RCLT. Yes go to Hollister all the time. And thank you for the compliment.

Might be a little while with this rain, but sounds good.

Edit: It’s usually closed when it rains because otherwise there’s always at least one knucklehead that get stuck on a trail and have to abandon their rig. o_O Sure you’ve heard the stories.
