IMG_3553.png IMG_3684.jpg Hey guys, i have just recently become the owner of a 2016 Tacoma TRD Off-Road after my 6 speed manual Fj Cruiser was totaled by a hail storm . I’m ready to start modifying the taco! I’ve been doing some “research” (googling), and i can’t find where anyone has done what I’m wanting to do. Has anyone on here stacked a .5” level block on top of a 3.5” strut lift? I’m looking at the lift attached. And i know not many people are high on RC lift kits lol! I had a 3” RC lift on my 2nd gen tacoma and i didn’t have any issues out of it; but i realized the new upper control arms would improve the lift. Any opinions or insight is greatly appreciated! Thanks

Stacking of lifts is never a good idea. Are you 2WD or 4WD?

4x4. Do you think with stacking 1/2” would effect anything?

That puts you at 4.5” of lift in the front it gonna ride like crap. Down travel is gonna be horrible. Getting it aligned is gonna be a pia.

Your CV joints are going to fail. 3 inch lift is pushing for CVs.

It would put it at 4” not 4.5”. So maybe stick to the 3.5” lift without adding the .5” spacer?

    1/2 inch spacer gives 1 inch lift. It’s not a 1 to 1 ratio.

Oh ok, my bad. I will stick to the lift without adding the spacer. Thanks for the input!

What happens is the upper ball joint gets maxed and jams against the spring.

Also other issues like tie rod and cv angles get to extreme numbers.

Connecting the spindle during install is also a bear.

Drives like a tractor. Not worth it.

If you want 4" lift, you need a kit with drop-down brackets for the front suspension & axle housing.

BDS makes a nice kit (both for 4" and 6"), but it's spendy, especially if you opt for the Fox coilover shock option.
