Hey all, I have a 3rd gen Tacoma but found a Smartcap for sale locally that is for a 2nd Gen Tacoma. Does anyone have experience with mounting a smartcap meant for a 2nd gen into a 3rd gen? I’m aware the rear hatch gasket would likely need to be altered, but anything major that would not allow it to work?

The 2nd Gen Tacoma tailgate it not level with the bed sides and so I am sure the rear door is not the same. I would say they are not compatible because of this.

Gotcha. I know on other toppers/campers this has been remedied by a new rear gasket. For example, I had a go fast camper on my third gen that was sold to a person with a second gen. They replaced the rear gasket sealing and it was like it was meant for the 2nd gen
