Hit and Run

I just got my truck out of the body shop due to some idiot rear ending me and when I got out of the truck he tells me that he has to go and does not have time to wait around for the police. I quickly told him that it would be in his best interest to not leave the scene of the accident. the HP dispatcher told me not to make him mad... I told the dispatcher do you think I happy he ran into me...She was speechless...

 

I feel your pain. I had a tractor trailer crunch my back bumper while trying to back into the dock at work. He got out, picked up the piece that broke off, hung it back on and went on his way. I only found this out after a co-worker told me about it! I had to eat the cost.

 

I saw this happen once in my work parking garage. When the person drove off to another floor to park I wrote down a polite apology letter with there license plate make and car details for the person who got hit and run to follow up with the police.

Well I'm DEF getting old so maybe it's me.

 

So had a talk with the local PD (Madison PD). Told me to submit the information to my insurance. The insurance will in turn submit the video to the local PD. Essentially saying the police are worthless in this aspect.

The one I have is the

Rexing V1P Max with the motion sensor added on. I had another cheap dashcam before this but it missed several events. That cheap one caught me getting rear ended two days after I put on an RCI rear bumper.

This should be reported and he should be charged. This kind of shit speaks to the low quality of the person.

 

That sounds like terrible Law enforcement assistance. Hit and run is a crime, at least it is where i live. I can't believe they wouldn't go after him. I wonder if the *defund police* movements have anything to do with this?

Unfortunately, Madison, WI is a very anti-police city. Just google the riots from a few years ago. I am almost positive this guy lives around the area so maybe he and I can have a little chat one day.

Especially with your situations, that's awful. I cannot fathom how people can be such jerks.

 

I'd have told the idiot I don't have time or patience for this either but you caused it and visited it upon my house, so you best STFU.

 

As a citizen you have the ability to file charges yourself. I would. If for no other reason, the arrogance and ignorance this person displayed. ESPECIALLY to get out and look but not care.

 

Several years ago, I was sitting in my almost new 14 Corolla in a plaza waiting on my wife who was in one of the stores. A lady parked next to me and threw her car door open into the side of my car and began taking laundry baskets out of the back seat all the while she kept banging her door against my car and I am in it. I lost it and tore into her for dinging my car like that. She started squalling and ran into the laundry mat. I saw my wife watching what happened from inside the store she was in. She waited until the lady couldn't see her before my wife came out of the store and got in the car. She told me to hurry up and get us out of there. It turns out the lady I lit into was my wife's boss. Oops.
It's too bad the guy who posted this didn't get the chance to introduce himself.

 

The more I read this the madder I get. People are terrible, bet it's those people who'd be the first to bleat if something like that happened to them of course.

Was at the market with my wife's almost new Rav4 waiting across the aisle in the lot to cross. Saw a huge Cadillac door ram into the passenger side of the Rav, at which point I pulled out the phone to get a picture of the car. Heard the driver say "oops" and giggle with his friend as he shut the door. I cross and waited, as he started backing up I point to my car.

He rolls down window "WHAT?"
Me "Sir, you just hit my vehicle"
Him "I don't think so"
Me "I was standing right there. I heard and saw it hit, heard you say "oops" and laugh before you shut the door"
Him (with attitude) "what do you want me to do about it huh?"
Me "you do what you want. I'm locking myself in my vehicle and calling the police, and I have your plate # already"

It cost Mister Smart Mouth about $1200 to fix the damage. I told the officer "I'll say it to you, you can choose if you say it to him..this could have been easily solved but he wouldn't be honest with me even when I told him what I saw, and you might want to talk to his friend about flipping me off too if you want". Of course he had his mommy's car so he didn't care.

I don't advocate it but those kind of people some day might easily piss off the wrong person and really pay the price..not in terms of fines etc but a royal ass beating.

Especially puzzles me these days since there's cameras everyplace nowadays that people seem more inclined to try and act like this.

 

For sure, give a copy of the video to your insurance. The evidence is clear. The vehicle's make, model, color and license plate. And even the driver's face, physical description.

 

He just may come visit the neighbor again and then you can visit with him.

 

There's 2 reasons to report this:
-Justice should be served
-The damage is so miniscule, you can just pocket the payout if you choose, or put it towards more tacoma parts. Either way, it doesn't come out of your pocket (assuming your insurance/local police are competent enough to do their jobs)
