Is it possible to mix a custom color shade, in a rattle can, of the PPG Envirobase or is this strictly for regular gun painting?

I had my bed painted at a shop after an accident and they used a Spectrophotometer to match the 15 year aged paint perfectly. I have the spray card that shows the percentages of colors used to get the proper shade and was wondering if it was possible to have it duplicated in a spray can.

It can be done. Where I’m at I have a paint supplier for the body shops that does it.

    4 run, 2 don't
    As mentioned, can be done.

I've ordered custom spray paint before.

Often times, the quality stuff has to be used within a certain time frame vs being able to spray and then leave it on the shelf for later use.

Well guys, after trying every paint store around Pittsburgh, plus emailing many around the country, I found a place who does this a mile from my house!!! I had them blend me two spray cans of the Spraymax Fillclean using the percentages on the spray card the body shop left in my truck. I sanded the old shit down using 600 grit then painted right on over. I did three coats of base then three of Spraymax Glamour 2k clear.

The shop who mixed the paint mixed up the actual PPG Envirobase water based paint to the can which I thought was not possible! It went on and dried beautifully!! It was a lot easier to use than the solvent based shit. You simply wait for it to dry to a matte finish all over (about 45 minutes) then hit it with the clear.

I cut and buffed this afternoon after 24 hours and it’s perfect! Still seems a little darker than the 15 year old factory paint but is closer than the solvent based paint.

The cut and buff went a lot smoother than with the solvent shit and the finish is like a mirror! If highly recommend this type of method for anyone who wants to save the cash. It’s not hard to do as long as you’re patient and follow the directions. Shit, if I can do it without a hitch, anyone can!!

Only have one photo to share, top of fender, but will get a few more tomorrow!

The parts shop near me who mixed the paint is Motive Auto Parts in Homestead, Pa. No website and am unsure if they would order and mail the paint to anyone interested. Can always call to ask. These are old guys also who know their shit!!
