Take the truck and be happy, you're getting one of the best looking Tacomas ever produced. The allocation for my truck was exactly like your first line in bold above.
I was going to add LED headlights later, but I like the stock headlights just fine and won't be changing them.

I figure whatever neat little light dances the Led's are doing I can't see anyway, because I'm driving the truck.

    I can't miss what I can't see.

Just want to offer my two cents here.

Trd off road and pro have wide angle foglights that are different from the sr5, sport, and limited. They are a quality piece. The projector halogens work great.

Led lights are neat, don't get me wrong, but in the grand scheme of things they are not necessary, and most of the hype is the same bandwagon stuff you see every day.

Upgrade the halogen bulbs. Accept the truck as it comes. You are getting a wonderful machine. Be happy.

It seems to me that MGM and extra cab are the most important features to you. Enjoy that you found it. The factory halogens are just fine. They work great, it is a proven technology, they melt snow and sleet off, and they are easy to replace.

I hope you enjoy your new truck, and don't let a small issue disappoint you.

Well of course you're used to not being able to see anything if you don't have the LED lights!

Now I'm thinking they did me a favor. I park my vehicle outside and when it's real shitty out, I kind of depend on the halogens to melt the snow and ice before I get to work.

p.s. Thanks a ton for all of the work you've done on the lights. Impressive doesn't do it justice. Rainman would be jealous.

I think both of these responses were VERY huge for me. I went from :( that I didn't get LED headlights to  that the fog lights may not have been a good fit for me and they did me a favor. TECHNICALLY the big thing for me was getting a 2023 Gen 3. AFTER that requirement it was TRD OR access cab. So I'm still pretty stoked I'm getting almost exactly what I wanted and getting it rather soon. Due to crash's amazing thread on lights I have a much better understanding of what the options are, what the tradeoffs are, and what the best solution for me is. At this point, I'll let fate decide which lights I get and be happy either way. This is my first Tacoma and I expect it to last me a long time.

Thanks for the feedback everybody. This was a massive help.

the LED headlights are a $495 option over the standard projectors from the factory. Upgrading after delivery would cost him $1500+ is what he meant.

My VIN never showed up in the Toyota VIN tracker program/site they have, The truck arrived 9 days after I made the deal on it as the Dealer only had one new Tacoma on his lot and it was not what I was looking for. When I made the deal for the truck the sales manager said it was 10 days out but it made it to the dealer in 9 days. Funny thing is while the Toyota site always said VIN not found or available the truck I purchased has a manufacture date of 5/2023 so it was built right at 2 months before I bought on July 24, 2023 and the dealer received it on August 1, 2023.

If thats the case, you can also get $500 led headlights for the 3rd gen but they are not the OEM ones ( i didnt see him mention they were OEM in that post)

Right. I guess if he made his purchase b/c the GM assured him that LED’s headlights were included, then later on admitted they aren’t….wiggle room to negotiate on price.

I feel like we’ve seen this scenario of dealers with spec sheets “confusing” LED headlights with regular halogen projectors plus LED fog lights before…as is usually the case, buyer beware.

You are getting played. They know damn well they can't add or remove anything from an allocation. Even the port installed options will be installed. If your dealer is willing to pay a tech to remove the items, and buy them from you for the price listed on the window sticker...that's awesome but don't hold your breath on that one either. Do you have any paperwork from the dealer (not a word document but a picture of exactly what will be installed and price out the door)? If so, post it here. Otherwise, be prepared to pay/finance a couple thousand more than you are thinking when you make the trip to Michigan from Illinois. Or turn around and head back home.

@memario1214 from Hotshot Offroad should be on you shopping list for the Diode Dynamic fogs.

Ask when his next big sale is. Maybe Labor Day ?

Could be that you haven't been able to place an order for a Toyota for how many years now?

Unfortunately Toyota discontinued the wide-angle fogs after 2019. In 3rd Gen only the 16-19 non-Canadian TRD trucks got those good fogs. All 20+ trucks got the much low performing H16 fogs. Wiring is the same for all years, so swapping to the H11 wide-angle units is simple and they can often be found for cheap in the 3rd Gen marker place as people sell when they swap out to LED assemblies.

I obviously know less than everybody in this thread in terms of allocation stuff but we talked yesterday and he sent me a new SPEC sheet today with those items removed. The truck hasn't been built yet. He said I can't remove FIO's (which is fine as I wanted all of them that were included) but I could remove PIO's (which I did). The updated SPEC sheet he sent has them removed as well as their associated costs. Based on some comments here I'm not as worried about the headlights as I was before. $485 for them installed is a killer deal and I obviously want them but if they don't happen it could be for the better due to how lazy I am when it snows. Is the guy jerking me around? Maybe. But he's gone above and beyond working with the district manager to get what I wanted when my very own district wouldn't. I have ZERO reason to complain.

That's what everyone is trying to say. The district manager can't tell the port not to install something. Take gulf states, for example, a dealer in Florida absolutely cannot tell the distributor to not install something. Every single truck gets those options installed. I get you are excited the salesperson, sales manager, GM, district manager, whoever trying to take your $50,000 is telling you what you want to hear but they are promising something they aren't able to promise. That is why so many said no to you...because it isn't possible. So when someone says they can, you got excited but they have no more ability than the dealer down the street from you. The fact that the truck hasn't been built yet doesn't matter...it will get built to the same spec before you called the dealer no matter what the GM tells you.

Can you post what the dealer has sent you? Very curious to see what it says.

Comments on Port accessories are correct. Dealer receives an allocation of vehicles, All come with some port installed accessories. Dealer installed items are negotiable. No current Tacomas are made to 'order', again, simply dealer allocation.

When I 'requested' my 2022 last year, the dealer sent me multiple build sheets for vehicles they were receiving. I declined the first few trucks, as they were close, but still included items/options I wasn't interested in or items I wanted but were missing.

I had a final estimate, but the true Out-The-Door price couldn't be had until the specific allocation was chosen.

Here's the point I think you're missing. When I talked to salesmen, managers, etc. within 100 miles of my house I was told I couldn't get anything other than what's on their lot RIGHT NOW. That was my only option. They wouldn't do an inventory or allocation search. That is why I reached out to the dipshit lazy asses at the Chicago district office. They said the same thing. "Sorry, we only get what Toyota ships us. We can't get you what you want." When I pressed further I was told they aren't even MAKING access cabs anymore. They literally lied to me to try to move garbage inventory.

By calling every phone number I could find I got a hold of a random technician out of the Cincinnati district office who called his district manager and promised me that if they couldn't find me a truck on any lot in the US, they would get me my truck. They did. Whether they did it by finding one that was allotted to someone else, ordered it / modified an existing allotted truck, stole it, I don't know or care. I'm getting the exact truck I wanted, something I was told was impossible by the people I'm supposed to trust when it comes to buying a Toyota. He could tell me he was the guy that ran over my cat when I was 6. I wouldn't care. He still got me my truck when nobody else would even try. That random technician did a ton of work to get the ball rolling and he doesn't even get a commission. Are they lying to me? Maybe. Are they jerking me around? Not at all. Once I got out of the Chicago area everybody has been very accommodating and have done a good job keeping me informed with the status.

Attached is paged 1 of the 3 pager he sent today. The last 2 pages are basic info you'd find on a brochure. The one he sent yesterday had all the crap I didn't want on it. This is the updated one with that stuff removed. I removed the dealership information off of it because I don't want ANY chance that someone snakes this out from under me. :)
