anybody take note the new Trailhunter will have a turndown exhaust ending before the rear axle housing ... i thought turndown exhausts terminating under a vehicle were illegal ... i guess it depends on the smog tech validation ...

This is interesting. In PA, per inspection regulations, the exhaust must extend and discharge to the outside body edge of the vehicle, i.e. to the side(s) or rear.

I will be watching this thread.

Might be a good idea to not heat your differential with exhaust.

maybe Toyota is trying to kill off (literally) the overland trend, for those roof top tents people like to put over the bed.

Or...crazy thought...it's just a pre production and will be changed for general release?

I don't see this being a problem. Even if you were at a stop, redlining it, in Phoenix in 115 degree weather.

I have seen some failures because of before the axle dumps. Find a better way.

Don't leave the engine running while staying in the tent :notsure:

With today's restrictive emissions standards, I wouldn't be surprised if the tailpipe gases are cleaner than ambient air...

I've got a turn down on my Tacoma. However, it terminates after the axle.

I believe these new trucks pulled the axle back farther than the 3rd gen. (Wheelbase is 4 inches longer)

Maybe they are able to skirt around the regulations because the exhaust is ending in the bed area.
