I think they just started making these so they are building a "buzz" on TW, then determine material requirements from pre-orders plus xx% as a buffer. Once they get the first batch of sales they will likely start to build stock ahead of time and put them on the shelves, at which point lead times should normalize.

Either that or they have an elf chained to a radiator and he makes these by hand and they are shipped via pony express.

really comes down to who one really wants to support.

big business will have the resources to maintain the lowest lead time. but small 1-10 person shops that are working out of a garage, can't afford to stock many multiples to keep lead times low.

personally, i always prefer to go with the small business options whenever possible, even if it means a longer wait because the products are usually more unique, but the people are also usually more eager to help and make the product as good as it can possibly be.

many times because it's built on-demand, i can add/alter and generally work with the people to come to something that suits my needs better than the corporately-designed, computer-welded version that can get to me in 2 days, but needs to be altered a dozen different ways to suit my needs.

There's multiple reasons why their garbage is always in stock.

It literally uses the same bolts that the hitch uses to mount to the frame.. so.. yes?

Ignore me, you were calling out the person you quoted.

THIS. I'll take 8 weeks lead time over any of their garbage any day. I can definitely wait for RCI quality.

This is where I get concerned adding armor of any type.

Your truck has strong points and weak points on purpose. Weak points have been engineered to fail before the strong points as a way of protecting the strong points.
Some (not all - but some) of the bumpers and even skids and sliders out there are so well engineered they transfer the energy of an impact right past a crumple zone and into a total your truck zone.

They work well, very well in fact, for their intended purpose of ground clearance and trail impacts and recovery points but in an impact, especially an offset collision where forces are not equally distributed, these trail upgrades can have expensive results. However - even when, in an vehicle to vehicle impact, they transfer energy to other parts of the truck, they still do a better than stock job of protecting the passengers usually. They just sacrifice the truck to do it.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!

Curious if these would work with my CBI dual swing out bumper. The bumper has recovery points, but there is nothing wrong with adding some additional points of recovery.
I have been looking at the ARB recovery point for the front, for the same reason.

Right. There probably is a tradeoff between protecting the passengers 'at all cost' vs minimizing collision repair expense.

Also a major difference between trail impacts and vehicle collisions.

Years ago I rear ended an F250 (at about 10mph in traffic )with a receiver mounted pintle hook. Punched right through the headlight of my Saab 900 and tore my front bumper cover. F250 was not damaged at all. That stuck with me ever since-but only on TW did I come to realize the concept that of a potential'damage multiplier'. That said, it may be a worth it for me in some cases.

I'm not sure as I will soon will be get a HC bumper myself. But from what I've seen, I think that it would clear. Again I'm not affiliated with NYTOP in anyway. I just wanted a better option other than the hitch mounted recovery point

Black... I did the whole red accent thing and it got to be obnoxious. Black looks amazing on MGM.

It's actually because people who have a semblance of understanding for departure angles as well as recovering a stuck truck, know these silly things are objectively worse in both categories lol

I really liked the Sema wheels, until I saw the Ray10s in person. I always disliked the faux beadlocks, so when the Blaze10 came out, I jumped on them.

I miss the matte gray of the Ray10s. I wish the Blaze10s were matte.

Yeah the matte with the color truck really ties it together. I saw the sema with the black letters. Those are the ones im going to get. Unless something new comes out that just blows me away. These Fuels peaked my attention also.
