I adjust my bypass compression tubes all the way open -2 clicks while on the road. Same with my high speed on the coil overs. Low speed compression gets turned all the way closed and then out 2 clicks.

I have my settings saved for the dirt on my phone. For me it is worth it since my truck is a pretty frequent daily driver, when I go off-road, it’s usually for a few days at a time.
if the truck only saw streets once in a while, I will probably just leave in the bypasses alone.

For the folks that went to a tundra rack. Pros of going either with:

(I already have the JD Fab outer heim setup)

    1. Outer Heim, warm fab spacers deals, OEM inner.
    2. Outer Heim, Solid aluminum tire rod, OEM inner.
    3. Outer Heim, Solid aluminum tire rod, Heim inner.

My thought was sticking with OEM inner so that tire rods are the weak point, not the diff.

Putting a Tundra Rear Axle on in a couple of months and will need to re-gear the front again. Switching from Harrop to ARB locker and 4.88s all-around.

If it was an option when I was doing the install, I would have tried oem tie rods with the warfab sleeve and heim outers, for the sole purpose of being able to easily put a boot on the rack. I had inner and outer heims with JD tie rods and a makeshift boot.

With you being in CA I don’t think moisture and rust will be much of an issue, so I would just do full heim setup.

He’s a nice dude and loves the fans. Met him at the Mint400 this past year. When he was hanging on Fremont street after tech and hanging at the Shreddy booth. Fun and loved meeting the fan and the kids.

I blew my tundra rack with oem tie rods and oem outer. Atleast on my +2 kit, the oem outer has more angle/allows more travel than a heimed outer setup.

Being near the Ocean / trips to baja there is plenty of salt and Rust still finds its way in. Not as bad as out east, but my TC tie Rods are already looking rough. I was curious if it was possible or made sense for the outer and OEM inner but sounds like you cant run the solid one that way. only full heim all the way. I was def trying to keep a boot on mine.

I do have the WarFab Sleeves in a box already I think after chatting with you before but I have been debating if it makes sense to go full heim.

Ahh good to know. I already have the heim outer so that's done. Next is determining if it makes sense to heim the inner or not. This is also a +2 kit.

I think on the dunes you want full heims and on a crawler having a weak inner is a good option. You really don’t want to bend or break a steering component on the sand at high speed.

I did OEM inner tie rods with a tube and outer heim when I swapped to the Tundra rack.
I've liked it so far (4months) and one offroad trip to Barstow.
I put an OEM tundra boot kit on it with a hose clap on the inner OEM Tacoma tie rod. sealed just like factory and hasn't popped off.

Yah def. My truck sits in the middle and will never be super high speed. Moderate speed. Def like to get up on it, but it is a heavy truck that still gets the family around to places. I bent my rear axle on the last Baja trip and blew the rear end. (that is getting remedied).

I am leaving towards OEM inner. Feeling I could be in more Rock Scenarios and hate to be stuck somewhere in those scenarios. Desert Scenarios usually are more accessible if help is needed or trail repair needs to be done with on hand parts.

Nice, this is setup (different outer heim setup) but what I was thinking of with OEM inner with a sold instead of sleeve. Where or how did you determine the right length? Quick measure and go? Solid seems to be one less fail point. Somewhat worried of the sleeve coming loose.

I got them from PRG products, they make a small kit that’s basically just a outter stuff.
They have an option for +3.5 kit. The tubes are a tiny bit long, at least in my application with the tundra rack… can’t say about OEM.
The tubes are bottomed out against a lock nut on the inner tie rod, and then there’s obviously the lock nut at the outer most heim joint.
I do all of the toe adjusting with the outer heim joint.

    edit:
You could also figure out the correct length by mounting up the inner tire rod and a heimed joint with a lock nut on it at the spindle, then just measuring the distance between both inside faces of the locknut on either end. If that makes sense.

yah makes sense and what I was thinking of doing. Its a already installed with a stock rack, OEM tie rod and outer heim right now so easy to measure it and see.

Spoiled myself and went to the race shop to swap in a new steering rack and use the lift. Should not have done that. Jack stands are for peasants and now I need to figure out how to just move my tools over there and pay rent lol.

yeah my buddies parents had a small shop behind their house and we put a lift in it and got to use it for like 2 years before they sold the house...saddest day ever was moving my tools out of that shop.

Yeah they’re buying tools like crazy right now before his dad retires. Trying to up the capabilities of the shop for their racing endeavors. Mill, lathe, and cnc plasma were recently purchased. I’ll need to start practicing with those lol. Only thing is I like my welder better than theirs. But shop is around the corner from my house. Gonna talk about what fees they want to charge for me to use the shop for side jobs. It’s already been established that none of the friends will get charged to work on personal stuff but myself and one other buddy do side work out of our garages periodically
