Had a smell of burnt oil and found out the drivers front corner valve cover was leaking onto the manifold. Are the valve cover gaskets all I need or are there other things I should replace while I'm at it?

I'd suggest replacing all of most of the parts listed in the video description of Timmy's valve cover gasket tutorial. Half moons would be the exception, just reuse your current ones.

Valve cover gaskets, upper and lower intake manifold gaskets, throttle body gaskets, and a tube of fipg or similar gasket sealer.

Add spark plug tube seals and you're set.

felpro and most other kits come with them. Make sure you have some good razor blades scotch britte and brake clean.

The camshaft plugs might be a good idea. I replaced my gaskets not that long ago and reseated my camshaft plugs with FIPG and the driver side started leaking relatively soon after and the passenger side after 20,000 miles. Gaskets are still doing fine but I'm about to redo this job just to replace those camshaft plugs with new ones.

I suggest OE parts for everything. I used felpro plug and valve cover gasket with permatex sealant and it started to leak after 10k miles. I had to redo everything but with OE parts and everything is good now. Tried to save a buck only to spend more money doing it a second time.

Good info above. I just did this job last month on my '97 V6 Taco 4x4 and also call an exception to bending the tabs for the spark plug tube seals at 14:00 in Timmy's video. Another video showed where the guy did not bend the tabs, so I tried that method. The old seals were punch-deformed from the inside with a small screwdriver then were easily pried out, seal area was cleaned then lubed (I used silicone grease), then the new OEM seals were pressed in with just finger pressure. I did go over them with a seal driver just to be sure they were fully seated but they were. I also removed/cleaned/reinstalled the original half moons and replaced the cam seals. All the OEM parts needed came from McGeorge and PartSouq with both sources giving me outstanding service. The valve cover gasket job was finished off with a set of Denso ignition wire set from Rockauto ($30).

This 41 piece OEM kit is very comprehensive and lists most all of the parts needed for a 3.4L V6: Toyota 2002 3.4L V6 5VZFE Tune Up Valve Cover Re-Seal Kit Genuine OEM OE | eBay. Buying these same OEM parts from PartSouq and McGeorge saved me almost $100. A throttle body gasket (22271-62040 for my '97 V6 Taco) was added to this list so I could clean 26 years of grime out of the throttle body. It needed cleaning badly as did the MAF sensor.

I believe the half-moons are metal. They are fipg in there so if you clean them off they are reusable.
