Hey all, I just got my 04 Tacoma 3.4L V6 with 194k miles on it. I got it from a family member about a year ago and I know it hasn't had any real service on it probably since it was bought at 130k. Took it to the shop and they qouted about $3.6k for valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, gear box oil change, sway bar bushings, oxygen sensor (loose and rattling), belts, etc. I don't want to pay that much so my friend who is knowledgeable around subaru engines said he will help me learn.

Below is my list so far. Is there anything I'm missing or any suggestions on some other stuff to replace while I am in there?

    Thanks for the help!

While you've got everything off for the valve cover gaskets, do the fuel injectors (Denso Upgrades from Motor West) and replace all the vacuum hoses. There are a few you can only get to with the intake plenum off.

Oh, and when you have the valve covers off, you can check/adjust the valve clearances- not hard, but a bit involved.

You could reuse your current half moons (11183-62010), and save yourself $38.

Agree with @Andy01DblCabTacoma that you should do vacuum lines. I'd suggest ordering 10' each of 4mm, 6mm, and 8mm silicone vacuum line to have on hand. You can use that for every vacuum line except the PCV line (which is on your list already).

Also consider checking your carrier bearing (commonly called "driveshaft center support bearing"). I'd bet it's due up for replacement.

Lastly, I'd get familiar with Timmy the Toolman's YouTube channel (Andy linked one video above, he's also got a solid valve cover gasket video too). The guy is an absolute saint for making the high quality tutorials he does, and most of them will apply to your truck. I'm sure your truck will need other things soon enough, but your initial list looks like a good place to start.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Since I do this so often I have what works best for me.

I start at the ground and work up.

    Tires / Brakes/ suspension/ steering .

While I am under there all the gear oil and brake fluid is changed .

then to the engine compartment full tune up.Coolant hoses and belts . Repair any codes that need attention .

Thanks for the advice everyone! Any problem with buying rebuilt fuel injectors or recommendations on where to get rebuilt ones?

Motor West can service your existing injectors. Or if you find a set of OEM injectors in the BST or otherwise (I have a spare set I need to get rid of) you can get those serviced. But the price difference between doing that, and getting (what they call) Upgraded denso injectors isn't that much, so most (me included) just opt to get those and not go the service route.

I usually try not to link products, but here is the direct link to the injectors: https://motorwestperformance.com/product/upgrade-for-23250-62040/
