Did the dealer put rubber on my frame without my permission? New 2023 Tacoma

    Hey everyone,
So I was spraying down my undercarriage today when something caught my eye. Upon further inspection it looks like a rubber substance on the frame. I felt behind and there is more lining the inside. I attached a pic from under the rear passenger door.
I did not opt for any dealer rustproofing and obviously wouldn’t get a rubber coating. It’s not even coating the whole frame so it is likely already trapping moisture.
Is this something they do out of the factory now? I’m beyond pissed and not sure what to do.

Edit: The reason I hyperbolically said I'm "beyond pissed" is because I view this as an obstacle to proper rust proofing. Anybody have any insight into if it will impact a fluid film coating? Also, note that this coating is along the entire backside of the frame c-channel.

In my estimation, the half assed rubber coating trapping moisture all along the back of the c-channel is a hell of a way to expedite rust issues.

Don’t be upset about that, be upset that Toyota frames have been rusting in half for 40 years and they don’t care enough to solve the problem at the source.

@NjTaco23 before you contact Toyota. Crawl under there and try and peel it off. Really work at it and see if it comes off. Your hands may hurt, you can use a paint scraper if needed. I don't believe that the frame over laps there at all. So it might be someone at the factory just wiped there hands on your frame instead of their clothes.

Grease, yeah that's just grease.

In all seriousness, I don't think that is some sort of rubberized coating gone bad, otherwise it would be everywhere. You need to relax a little OP, probably just a manufacturing anomaly.

If I read a Friday thread written on a Thursday on Friday morning, does that officially make it a Friday thread?

Is the OP serious with this ? It’s a frame . A metal frame . They all will rust .Just keep it as clean as you can and put rust proofing product when you can . But just know the North East is terrible with ice melt and what ever crap they throw on the roads . All and every brand will eventually rust if you are not all over it all the time, and even then it’s only something you can keep somewhat keep in control . As far as the seam sealer it’s fine . Enjoy the truck ! Just keep it as clean as you can in bad weather especially .

I am genuinely curious what it’s like to go through life letting everything upset you? How do people do it? So many things in life just are not worth worrying about yet people let it ruin their days. I will never understand…
