As difficult as it was to find my truck, I worry I won’t be able to find soft parts down the road if I need them. Saw a posting on FB for a wreck at a local yard and these seats were in it. Small tear in the usual spot and they can use a deep clean but I was able to get the set for $350. How did I do?

You could be half way to nicer corbeaus / other aftermarket seats with that, but an upgrade is ultimately an upgrade!

Too much. Stock Tacoma seats are awful. What you want are the 4Runner SR5 seats. Driver has lumbar (iirc) and the base tilts.

I paid $100 for these. Have to cut the feet off and weld on the ones from the stock seats. Which I bought a set off a member here for $25 or something like that. Needed to still drive the truck as I modded them. Did cut off the ones from mine, so have a set if you want them if you find SR5 seats.

Driver had a small tear, my wife says she is going to make a patch for it, which is going to be more of a Japanese stitching technique called Boro/Sashiko, which is more fitting for a Japanese vehicle, over reupholstering.

Still looks stock, but with a much better seat.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
As long as you feel you made out good that is all that matters.

If you were close I would have given you a set. 4Runner seats are much more comfortable .

I feel even better I bought a running driving Truck for another $150.00 dollars more then you bought seats.

I'm ok with them. They just aren't plentiful so I jumped. I'm a stock kind of guy and these match the original pattern. Free would have been nice.

That driver side headrest has more grease in it than a fry truck at the end of the fish and chips shift

I dunno man. For years I’ve seen everyone recommmend Corbeaus.

I’ve sat in the Baja RS seats a few years ago. Very uncomfortable IMO.

I’m firmly in the “but once cry once” camp. If I’m upgrading I’m going Recaros or save up a lot longer and go Scheel Mann.

That said I did get a pair of T4R sport seats for cheap but the fabric is in awful condition (coated in some sort of gnarly oil). So I’m going to put sweat equity into these and see if I can get them clean enough to install in my truck 04.

I went the route of putting WRX seats in my 98. Super comfy.

Oddly personal question: do you feel the seat heater and/or the heating element on your butt when sitting in the seat?

I had Subarau Forester XT seats in my 98 for awhile but the heating element was so uncomfortable to sit on.

As my 1st Gen’s been sitting for 6 years since I’ve owned it I can’t claim to have a lot of seat time. The 01 stock buckets I scored for it seem comfy enough to me. My wife’s 97 t4r SR5 seats aren’t anything to write home about imo. I don’t find stock seats uncomfortable often and I’ve done 1000+ mile 2 day road trips in my stock base model 2nd Gen seats absolutely fine. For guys who complained about the stock seats I noticed corbeaus were an option they seemed to like but I mentioned other aftermarket seats as I also know not everyone agrees on how specific seats feel. Doubt I’ll need to change my seats in my 1st Gen once I get to using it but if I do I’ll most likely get something like a PRP race seat or a used set of stock seats from a vehicle that can be swapped over - all seats in LA / OC are $500-$1k anyway so it’s not going to be that cheap on top of the hassle of making adapters.

I’m not butt hurt. Maybe the leather is thick enough to spread the load. Also (including these) a lot of the modern heaters are some form of carbon filament. No hard wire filament.

Kinda forgot the adjustments on the SR5 seats since I haven’t messed with it for awhile. Happened to drive it today instead of my 3rd Gen.

Adjustment for Lumbar (lever) and Side Bolster (knob).

Took me a couple years to find these, worth it if you can.

    You’re welcome.

They are nice seats that should clean up well, so wouldn’t beat yourself up too much over it. I certainly have paid too much for things in the past. But if they make you happy that is all that matters.

Can’t tell you how many years I searched for those SR5 seats, always a day late and a dollar short. Then one day they popped up on market place.
