Hold Toyota Accountable for 2008-2022 Tacoma Super White peeling paint

It's not only the white colored ones that are pealing mine is pealing too and its black. I have also seen a bunch of blue ones and grey ones that are pealing. Does anyone know on how this petition is doing? has it gone through???

 

That's how it's doing. I should probably come up with 1,068 entries so we all get free paint jobs. I hear the MGM paint isn't great either.

No worries. My post wasn't actually meant to poke fun at you. More the website change.org. I'm skeptical it accomplishes anything. But they did get almost 43k sigs to save a mural of Snoop and Kobe, so they've been busy.

 

Haven't posted here in a very long time, but I just joined the Tacoma White Paint Peeling club this weekend with my 2018 Tacoma. Anybody have any DIY fix advice. like maybe get some black auto wrap type tape and put it around the edge? Maybe it will looks like the window seal rubber?

 

I've thought about wrapping my door frames with some black wrap, and my hood but know if it ever has to come off I'm losing even more paint! though I will say my Tacoma white paint is better than my winter beater Hyundai that will lose whole huge chunks of paint. heck removed my off-road permit from that baby SUV and removed a huge swath of paint.

 

It's not just the white, if they cover the white they'd have to cover all the other colors with horrible paint issues. I see tons of MGM trucks in excellent condition aside from the fading and peeling paint.

 

There is a TSB on a decades worth of white and pearl white cars to get repainted. Just saying.

 

Why does it seem like a vehicle never washed/waxed holds the white paint better than a cared for vehicle. This has been since the 80s.

 

I touch up paint on a regular cadence. It is annoying to say the least. I have at least touched up over 30 different spots. I actually did one last night. It's in areas where it is not likely from a rock kicking up. Paint is very thin. My truck is garaged. I hope Toyota does something about this.

 

Was thinking the same. A lot of the second gens took 8-10 years to peel. 3rd gens peeling in as little as 1-2 years.

Ford and Chevy are both having issues with 2020+ already peeling too.

*edit. Misread your post. Thought you said why does it seem like new cars are peeling faster than older. My bad.

 

2020+ they probably had supply chain issues with raw materials for paint. Ran into that trouble finding paint for my house. Also the ink we use at work was 'temporarily' reformulated due to supply chain issues.

 

I don't have advice but I will tell you that my 2017 looks EXACTLY like yours. Pisses me off every time I look at it.

I'm just curious, I have a 2013 Super White Double Cab that hasn't started peeling (yet). Is it just a matter of time or did I get "a good one"? Whenever I go through a car wash and see those high pressure jets blasting my doors and window frames I fully expect to see paint flying off.

 

Only time will. My 13 started last fall.

My 2014 super white tacoma is peeling all over it, it started before like 80,000 miles. Meanwhile I have a 05 tundra with 376,000 miles and aside from a lot of dents and it's not as shiny as it used to be, no peeling. Toyota really dropped the ball and they do not care.

 

lol same with my 06' tacoma, it's basically matte white now but nothing is peeling.

 

It was a problem prior to 2020
