Im curious what is everybody’s opinion is on catch cans? I’ve heard so many different things like that they can affect the vacuum pressure so as to cause damage if pressure was altered (reduced) by long hoses or extra hoses, and I’ve also heard if you install them correctly with a short hose that they can be a good thing? I was wondering what the truth is about them? Love to hear hear any positive or negative experiences with them. Installl tips? Or avoid all together?

    Direct injection only? Yes.

    Performance engine? Yes.

Pretty much every Toyota? No. (only early IS250 really needs it)

The 2.7 isn't known for oil consumption or carbon build up. No reason to complicate it for no true benefit. Just clean the throttle plate from time to time and you're good to go.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
As a band aid till you get around to rebuilding an engine with massive blow by.

The engine you can spin the crank pulley with the spark plugs installed with your one hand.

That is my feeling on the matter !

Lots of threads and debates on it. I think on these trucks, the reason some justify them is not the usual - it's for high angle operation, where this motor performs poorly and allows oil to pool on the back cylinders in some cases blowing up engines. Not an expert on this, just my recollection from when I last went down this hole.

Catch Can on a Direct Injection engine where the fuel is atomized DIRECTLY into the combustion chamber (like in a diesel or Eco-Boost) is a good idea to keep your valves cleaner.

Catch Can in a non-direct injection engine doesn't make nearly as much difference. Unless.... You have some absurd malfunction somewhere else in your engine or you are using the wrong oil and it's causing a LOT of it to bake off and fill the can.

Also, I've noticed that people in humid regions post up pics of FULL cans every month. People in arid or dry places seem to go all year and just get a teaspoon. Leads me to believe that a lot of what you find in the can is going to be harmless moisture vapor that carries some petroleum with it.

I never give this a thought as those days for me are long over.

Then the ideal set up would be to relocate a port on the front and rear of the valve covers.

To draw oil out of both uphill and down hill high angles.

That might mean lots of extra oil being taken along.
