Just acquired an '11 SR5 with 175K. Current suspension appears to be original and beyond shot. Plan is to put 5100's all around and lift the front 1.5" with a 1" block in the rear. Plan is very limited off road, mostly doing this for looks. Will likely go with 265/75-16 tires.

First question is related to rear springs. They are the 3 leaf packs and appear to be sagging a bit and get some clicking back there at low speed on and off the brakes. I am guessing that a 3 leaf AAL won't work well if the original leafs are shot, but open to opinions on this. If recommending leaf replacement, do you have a recommendation for affordable options that keep lift below 1.5" and will not become too stiff for mostly on road driving? There is no real weight adders back there now and don't plan a lot of heavy loading.

Next question is front coils. I am guessing that the coils don't badly soften over time like the leaves do. Any guesses as to how well they may doing at 175K? Hoping to keep them and lift with the 5100's. I don't know what stock height looks like, but doesn't appear to be sagging in the front.

Thanks in advance for any guidance here.

If the stock leafs are shot, and you want some lift in the back, I highly recommend General Spring's Heavy Duty leaf pack.

Did some research on that. Appears the recall stopped at 10/2010 and mine was built mid 2011. Do the 3rd gen springs add lift or are they similar to the 2nd gen?

    I believe with all
3rd gen suspensions you will get about 1 1/2 inches life in stock height

You'll get ~0.75" lift in the front from stock 3rd gen Off Road coilovers and zero lift in the rear from stock 3rd gen leaf packs. If you add a 3/8" thick top hat spacer to the front then you'll get 1.5" lift. That's what I did. It was great because it was super cheap, looked good and performed well (but of course it was still just stock suspension so it wasn't a performance upgrade).

there was a TSB (Technical Service Bulleting) that replaced the 2+overload with a 3+ overload, this went past 2010 (mine was a 2011 and had it done). either way though, i'm pretty sure you're out of the TSB window.

I'd just look for a 3rd gen Tacoma take-off set. Lots of folks remove them shortly after purchasing truck to upgrade the rear suspension.
