The 2GR-FKS (3.5L) has direct injection but doesn't leverage ultra-lean combustion (ULC). I'm interested in messing with the fuel map to achieve ULC but not if the NOx goes up. I don't know why toyota decided to not run the 2GR-FKS this way but assuming it is possible, I want to give it a shot. I would be stoked if I could just get it running at idle.

What possible solutions do I have for running a NOx sensor? I've considered wiring up an OEM one from a diesel engine with a custom PCB, but I have no way of calibrating it. Any thoughts or ideas?

There is a good post from the hpacademy.com forums on what ULC is.
