    Hey yall
My 2015 4.0L dc sport 4x4 has 80,000 miles and compressor is getting pretty noisy . Im considering getting a new compressor, condenser, maybe a expansion valve , maybe a filter . To be honest not a 100 % sure of layout, is there a pre expansion valve filter? Anyway i want to avoid a catastrophic failure to avoid evaporator replacement, at most i want to flush evaporator if i have too I would prefer not to flush if I don’t have too. Do these compressors really fail at such a low mileage? System still works pretty good just getting noisy. What brand of ac compressor is recommended ? Thanks for input.

Does it only make noise when the clutch is engaged? Like an internal noise?

Sometimes the pulley bearing on the outside will start to growl just like an idler pulley.

Take the belt off and and spin the outside pulley, listen for noise.

If it's not internal you may be able to get away with just a clutch/pulley assembly. No need to even open up the refrigerant system

As long as the compressor hasn't grenaded internally you shouldn't have to replace the condenser or anything else

Yes it only makes noise when engaged. Not clutch noise, i cant even hear from engine bay just when i am sitting in truck you can feel/ hear rumble when engaged.

Then it's internal, needs a compressor but probably doesn't need all the other components. Look for metal shavings when you take the lines off.

Sure nissens is fine. I've even had good luck Four Seasons when customers are trying to keep the cost down. As long as it's new and not remanufactured.

Swapping over the lock sensor is easy if you have to do it

Probably. Honestly I haven't dug into 2nd gen ac systems much other than compressor replacements. Never really been in the dash where the evaporator is..

The orifice filter is in the line that connects into the expansion valve.
Here is a pic of my original at 10 years.

So why were you in that part of system that seems like a lot of debris for no failure

I replaced the condenser and since the system was evacuated I was curious what the filter looked like. I assume the dark color is normal. It looks bad but only 1/4 of the filter has debris. I wonder what turned the screen black?
The original condenser was working but was replaced just because it was 10 years old and has a non replaceable dryer.
