You looking for an actual OEM ball joint or aftermarket OEM replacement type? If OEM, taking a quick look on parts.toyota.com it appears only the LCA assembly is offered and not the ball joint itself.

www.rockauto.com looks like they have them for $25 or so. Select Toyota - Year - Tacoma and you can narrow down the results.

Factory replacement upper and lower ball joints have never been available from the dealer for 2005+ trucks, you buy a whole control arm or nothing.

MOOG sells replacement ball joints if you want to press them in and out. There are other brands but I only have experience with MOOG upper ball joints and they are acceptable. Not as good as OE but they fit and will last a couple of years at least. One nice thing about MOOG is they have Zerk fittings while OE ones don't.

Overseas Toyota does sell OE ball joints for Hilux (not 4Runner or Prado) that should fit but sourcing them is not easy. Reliable eBay sellers (usually in the Middle East or Japan) are usually the best option.

Bump. I have just been tasked to start looking for a drivers side lower ball joint or pair for my truck, got one in early stages of failure. Mechanic said look for good aftermarket option, not an OE with new arm. Anyone else replaced lower ball joints on gen 3? What is everyone running? I am lifted if that makes any difference.

This is crazy. Found a small grease leak in my driver side ball joint. Has anyone swapped out a ball joint without needing to buy the whole LCA?

will post some pics tomorrow its too hot 117 here in NorCal. But i got the lower arm off and replaced the ball joint with a mevotech. Rental kit from oreilly did not have correct sizes to remove on the car ( including the 4wd ball joint accy kit) so I had to take the arm off and press it out on a HF strand press. A ton of work and hassle I can see why the dealer just replaces (as far as tech time goes) but overall it can be done. Had to leave and get a saw-zall blade for the upper arm bolt. Too hot to continue but will be taking the upper arm off and pressing in the new mevotech and will post pics of both.

2019 Tacoma off road at 92K. I managed to change out the lower one with this ball joint press kit from Advanced Auto Parts (non of the kits from O’Reilly, NAPA or Autozone had the right cups). I’m no mechanic. The most extensive thing I’ve ever done is change my spark plugs. Pressing it out was a pain. My impact gave up a couple times. The joint started coming out uneven and started biding. I encouraged it with a hammer, beating on the top high side and tapping around the knuckle until it straightened. Once I got it back on track the press and impact eventually got it out. Getting it in was fairly simple. My only regret is not getting the non-serviceable joint. Hopefully greasing these wont become a pain. Also, I probably could have lined up the grease fitting in a more appropriate spot.
