For those near MKE, I'm thinking of hosting a driveway/garage mod day on 9/16.

My garage shop/tools is a work in progress, but if anyone has mods they'd like to do that need an extra set of hands and a chance to hang out, I think it'd be a good time. We could plan for sometime midday, followed by a trip to the Lion's Tail Brewery (Tosa) about 5 blocks from my place for dinner/drinks.

If anyone's interested, let me know!

I have no scheduled upcoming mods but I'd be willing to lend a hand. I can also talk stupid, if needed.

Likewise I don't currently have any mods planned but am willing to lend a wrenching hand, be a transmission jack, or a shoulder to cry on. I'm in.

All else fails, I've been wanting to remove the flares and rear bumper covers on the 80 - more hands make light work.

Come on now... this isn't the bad financial advice thread. Don't make me consider this an excuse to buy something just so I can hang with the cool kids and wrench on my truck.

I don't believe I have anything planned and would love to hang out. I've also never been to Lion's Tail. Not sure if you're aware, but the Sendik’s next door provides some of their snacking foods.

No mods planned either but like @rubbersidedown said, my tools look a little too new! Definitely in to lend a hand.

I will actually have a couple things to install that I may or may not have just ordered from Stedi, one of my favorite Australian brands for 4wd stuff/lighting. Exchange rate helps too.

I know @Camerasandcoffee will recognize that name.

I don't have any mods on the agenda (not that I can afford right now, at least), but I can drink beer and hand people tools and stuff. :D

Definitely recognize that. They have very well thought of lighting for serious off roading. I always wondered how some of the Australian lighting compares to well known American brands.

Hell, it's settled! Garage/driveway hang and mods followed by a dinner and beers at Lion's Tail Brewery in Tosa.

Roughly plan for midday/early afternoon arrival. I should have enough chairs but feel free to bring your own chair and any tools/gadgets you want to show off. For everyone who wants to come over, send me a DM for my address.

Isn't that how a good number of us ended up with Dobinsons? @McSpazatron and @Taco-Grinder preaching the gospel of the proper suspension for the Australian bush?

    Good thing we'll probably have a "sparky" on-hand @Thatbassguy - Aussie-speak for electricians.

    ...that and fire extinguishers.

Aussie stuff is usually top notch.

But no lighting beats @Diode Dynamics :D

Man.... All these people with no mods to do, and yet there's a YUGE sale going on....

Diode Dynamics is definitely the best choice for fogs. I think Rigid and Baja Designs are also very good for off-road pods and bars.

For high end lighting, Rigid have alien level tech. But boy howdy is it pricey

Baja is ..... Angering people. Expensive for what it is. Falsely advertising that they're made in the USA (they aren't. Theyre in Mexico with Chinese components. Unlike Diode, who is actually still in the US)

Well, it's really @Shellshock 's fault that I wound up with Rigid ditch lights. But, I have 0 regrets, and would buy them again in a heartbeat. And, I love the SR light bar I have. But, I might look at less expensive options for things like chase lights.

I don't know much about BD, except that some folks seem to think they're the greatest thing ever. There was even a guy on the 4runner forum claiming that a set of BD ditch lights was brighter than a set of Rigid pods plus a Rigid light bar ("one time in a field", basically). Sounded like BS, but some people really need to feel like whatever they bought is superior to everything else.

DD fogs remain on my list of things to buy. Maybe this winter.

No doubt Rigid are solid products.

And the BD lights are solid too, don't get me wrong. They're just stepping on a few toes lately lol.

But to be fair they are the absolute biggest name in off-road racing. Which is where a lot of their credibility comes from. But like any good market, their competition caught up and even surpassed them in certain areas. So now the race is on between all of the big brands to keep their stuff tip top.
