I like satin finishes better than gloss or flat.
Thanks to you all for the encouragement!

    What they said ^

Looks awesome and congrats on meeting the challenge!

How’d the bowls go over? Sorry if I missed it if you already wrote about it.

Thanks for asking! They were enthusiastically received, but not a one of those guys has any clue what went into making them. Most are engineers, yet I am the only practical one apparently. They work with their minds, not their hands. However, one guy sent me a pic of his bowl in its resting place in his home, which made me feel good lol.

Congrats again! Those in the know, know. Hopefully those that don’t will have the craftsmanship brought to their attention!

I have a quote to end the day:

I was in a store recently, saw a wooden bowl and immediately thought:

    The Death Wheel!

They were an impressive project -- this one too.:thumbsup:

I've been 'news free' for almost 20 years now and its been amazing!! No links, no feeds, no alerts...hell, I refuse to even watch the weather (although I do use a weather app). If something happens in my town (or anywhere else for that matter) I usually dont hear about it unless my wife or a coworker tells me, and they've all been informed not to. :anonymous:

The death wheel is put away in the dark cabinet unsatisfied. However, it knows it will get another chance one day to bring honor to it's name.

For 30 years I listened to NPR news shows driving to and from work.
I thought it was important to try to keep informed, learn different things and perhaps be able to contribute to a conversation fairly intelligently.

One morning I was driving along listening to whatever awful thing that somebody did to someone that week - suddenly *bam* it was like a circuit breaker in my head popped -- I thought "I don't want to hear this..."

I grabbed the first CD in my box, a western swing band called "Asleep at the Wheel" - the irony of my random choice came to me later.

Thats alot like what happened to me; for years I had Fox News on basically whenever I was home; one day I was just like "all of this talking disgusts me"...and not necessarily Fox, but people puking up the days events in general.
In my 'get off my lawn' opinion, 24 hour news is one of the worst things that has plagued our country (all countries, really) in the last few decades. We dont really need to know everything, especially when we can do nothing about it.
If a news channel just ran down a list of what happened each day (like a checklist) and kept their (or whomever owns the network) opinions out of it...it may be worth watching. Especially if it was a scantilly clad hot chick doing the reading.

News used to be an hour program:
    1/2 hour local, 1/2 hour national at 6pm & 11pm = 2 hours/day.

CNN came along in 1980 with 24 hour news -
they had to fill those other 22 hours ,
"the news" became entertainment at that point.

This may have been asked and answered already, but would a wood lathe have been easier to make the bowls?

I've followed your project from beginning to end and you did an amazing job!
