Hello from ohio. 1st post. I own a 2009 4.0 4×4 trd. I've owned this truck for 5 years. Purchased truck with 75,000 miles, it was clean nice frame. I didn't know anything really about tacomas then. Common sense told me what to look for when I purchased it. It was a good buy. I'm at 148000 miles now. We'll this is the first vehicle that I didn't have my bro service. I let the dealer do all wrenching, that was a mistake. I had many issues with service threw many toyota dealers. So I decided to start working on it myself. I'm no mechanic, even though my dad and bro sure are. I wanted to do things myself. Well where the problems started, just like many rust. The frame was clean until about year and a half after toyota applied there coating. It started flaking very fast. I decided I'm gonna fix it cause they wouldn't, and I tried. I checked frame everywhere knocked two small holes. Crap I was nervous. I did get help with that, my brother welded in New pieces fixed that. Then I grinded and sanded for days. Washed frame, then rust kutter. I then applied primer and two coats of paint. It looks so much better. I know it's probably still rusting but, I had to do something. I fluid filmed after. With the help of this site work didn't stop.
    New parts installed.

Wow tired just typing all that. I'm just grateful really. This site helped me achieve all that and some. I'm not a mechanic as said, but I got courage to try these jobs from this site. I can think of all the money and headaches I saved from going to dealer. Truck drives awesome now, except small vibes fro 0-10, which I'm working on currently. Definitely drive angles.
    Thanks again
    Adam

At least you’re trying and doing it yourself.
You don’t become a mechanical by not wrenching.
I’m far from a mechanic, but I don’t have anything against trying.

How do you like those Mevotech LCAs?
Those are what I plan to use if/when I replace my LCAs.

Nice looking truck by the way.
