Look at it this way....camper is the same width as the truck. Sit three people in the back seat and consider how comfortable that is. Sleeping in the camper will be just as cramped. Sure you can do it in a pinch. Just get the kid a ground tent. He won't want to sleep with you anyways lol.

 

We have a nice Gazelle ground tent. 2 in the camper, 2 in the tent.

 

Anyone replace the rear window that came w their camper? Mine isnt great. Leaks. Instead of using silicone to seal it, i figured may be better long term to replace the cheap rear window.

 

Haven't replaced mine or seen anyone do it but can't be too bad with the option of owner retrofit of the new drop down window. Last I checked it was on the site but no specifics so may need to check with Sasha unless you prefer the solid, likely cheaper option. Maybe check out the RV shops for windows that may fit?

 

Thought I’d throw up my SP X1 build - number 464 over here in Englewood, CO. Picked up in November in 2022. Dometic 75cfx dual zone, renogy 100ah battery, 50a DC-DC charger and 1000w inverter and 200w solar panel. Made a chest for all our stuff for the back. Upgraded to a hest mattress and pillows. Peregrine 270 awning makes for easy shade.

 

Wave 6 install. Mr Buddy on the floor no more.

 

It will be interesting to see how much condensation you get from the Wave6 vs your Mr Buddy.

 

Have used both for a few years in various conditions in UT/ID/MT/AB/BC.
Wave 6 has produced significantly less condensation (close to zero) compared to the rain forest (and smell) of Mr. Buddy.
MB has its uses (very portable, ease of use, small footprint) but prefer the combustion process of the W6 by far.

 

What is it you like better about the Hest? I've heard a number of people who have tried both say they like the Exped megamat better. Just curious....

 

The Hest is by far the best mattress I’ve had in a RTT. I’m a side sleeper tried over firm, regular, soft and could never sleep well on the exped. Plus not having to inflate anything is so much easier.

 

I’m not a fan of inflating and deflating the exped. I’ll check out the hest. Thanks!

 

I had leakage problems on my rear window. Called up SP and got an appointment to replace it.
Went up there and they replaced the window with a burlier gasket (they had to re-cut a new piece of plexiglass).
It works much better now. No leaks.

 

Is there a HEST mattress that fits the x1 and it can close without deflating?

 

Look at the HEST website, they have recommendations of size for specific campers. Had asked someone about it and he said it is slightly more resistant but does close. These are memory foam, no inflation. Guess the foam compresses enough and they are having a Labor day sale....25% off. Expensive still but maybe worth a try since they have a 100day trial period.

Something to consider...After looking through the website, it folds in half longways so you'd have to figure out a way to move it/hang it up at the roof to be able to push the 1/2 floor in and use the full space. Probably not hard to figure out or any harder than the EXPED fold over and the inflating/deflating.

 

I seem to recall a couple X1 owners built a system to lift the sleeping platform up rather than slide it forward. Should be pretty easy with the T-slot in the upper extrusion to rig something up to hold the platform out of the way.

 

How has everyone mounted their solar set up? Meaning, the charge controller, fuse block and inverter?

 

No inverter at this time. I’ve been using a portable power station when I need AC power.

 

I put my battery behind the seat too. I also have no inverter.

 

Working on storage for under my refrigerator.

 

has anyone had any of their powder coating start to chip? Some of mine primarily exterior on the front of the camper in the extruded channels?
