Recently installed a set of Yokohama’s on my truck. After all the praise these tires get it was to my surprise that at least 2 of the tires have some sort of defect. All 4 tires are having issues balancing out. The run out is terrible. 2 of them either have a belt issue or flat spots because going down the road feels like I’m on square tires, not round. It’s horrible. I’ve never experience tires riding like this. So they are being replaced and Yokohama just lost my potential business.

Here are the tires I’m considering:

    cooper stt pro
    Bfg km3
    Nitto trail grappler
    Falken wildpeak mt
    Maxxis razr mt

any experiences positive or negative with these? I do care a little about snow traction

I had a set of razr on a jeep I had 35x12.5. Really liked them. On the taco I run bighorn. 255/85r16

Cooper STT Pro have served this JL very well. Made the trip up to Alaska, off-road every day for months (4) and drove back and enjoyed plenty of off-road in Canada. We had at least 15 local trips on this set of 37's before this AK trip.

Had two sets. Good in summer, but there are better options in snow.

For MT's...what are your recommendations/experience? Always up for trying a new tire. Thanks in advance.

That tire confused me. People always judge winter performance off the amount of siping a tire has. That tire looks to have zero

Look closer, the siping goes around the lugs.

They don’t look nearly wide enough or deep enough. I’ve also never heard of them which is surprising. If they were an end all be all tire I would think they’d be more popular

I'm on my 2 set of KM3's. I ran the cooper SST before that, and I found the KM3's to outperform them in every terrain. But that is on my relatively heavy truck. On something lighter like Tacomas, there may be better options.

I think that’s a valid point and concern with tire reviews. The Tacoma is extremely light in the rear end and for example makes snow driving awkward on any tire in my experience. It makes 4wd required far sooner than others.

You’ve seriously never heard of Nokian?

You misinterpreted what I said. I’ve never heard of that particular tire. I’ve heard of Nokian. But that’s not a mainstream tire

Never had any problems with BFG's. The A/T's run great in the winter.
    KM3 all day.

Should add I just put some Yoko geo x-at's on because they're allegedly better in snow than K02's. Hopefully I have better luck with the yokos.

I had 35 x 12.50 Nitto Trail Grapplers on my 2500 Cummins rig and they performed well. If I found a deal on Trail Grapplers I probably wouldn't switch from the KO2s on my Taco now, but I lived back east when I had my Cummins and I live out West now and an AT tire is much better suited to my needs now vs an aggressive MT.

You have some very good brands listed. I don't think you can go wrong with any so long as they are sized right and properly aired up/down.

That is mostly because it is new and had a market delivery hiccup due to the Russia-Ukraine war.

Is it just new to the us market? Because I’ve seen videos of the tire from a few years ago.

I’ve had both the Falken M/T on My Tacoma and currently have the Toyo Open Country M/T on my gx470. The Toyos ride much better and are pretty quite compared to the Falkens.
