My light bar is a combo from CaliRaised. I will upgrade my driving lights AFTER I add the ditch lights.

Where do you feel that your current setup is lacking? That will tell us a little bit. Also, what is your intended use for the "ditch" light? Will you be pointing them down the road for more distance, or do you need them to fill the ditches?

Without knowing the above answers... Here's what I would think. IF you can stomach the cost I would recommend a set of Baja Designs S2 Pros in probably their combo/driving pattern. The other good option would be the Rigid Industries SR-M Pro in a driving pattern. Upside to Baja is that you can change out the lenses down the line. I can get you a good deal on either, but if those options are outside of the budget realm I could give a couple other suggestions as well.

    My setup:
Diode Dynamics 30" hidden bumper combo light bar in white
Diode Dynamics SS3 Pro fogs in Amber
Diode Dynamics SS3 Sport Ditch Lights Spots in White.

I got the ditch lights after having the other lights for a few months. The bar and fogs supply plenty of light straight out. I added the ditch light to illuminate more things off the sides of front tire areas, i.e., ditches. I travel a lot of tight woods roads. I find that the spot ditch lights have a narrow beam. I think I would be better off with floods for my situation. I am not going very fast on these roads most of the time. I think floods would show me a little more on the sides. I don't aim them over the hood. More like 30 to 45 degrees off the fender.

Like what has been stated above by a few people, you need to figure out your purpose. If you decided to get DD SS3 Sport Floods and find out you would be better off with spots, let me know. I bet we could work out a trade!

I had cali raised side shooting, and whereas they were decent at light, nice little spot with a bit of spill towards the "ditch" after a few washings of the truck they were full of condensation. Making them look like cheap ebay lights, which they're probably exactly that, based on price. I reached out and let them know, basically getting a kind of run around that they are meant to do that, gore tex filter should dry out, blah blah blah, I feel like I had to kind of argue for a replacement when new lights shouldn't leak. You get what you pay for 100%.

I went with a set of SS3 pro fogs, and another pro set in driving pattern for the hood lights, and an extra pair of spot lenses to see how they faired.

The driving are killer, super bright, but real focused, really wished they had those side shooter lights (the only really good thing on the cali raised pods), the flood is ok, like others said, definitely for slower speed on trails (kind of the whole purpose), but on our trip up camping this weekend they were excellent at slow speed and narrow trails with big drops on one side lighting up the area surrounding the truck. Sadly no front light, maybe I'll give cali raised another chance and get a grill light, or go straight diode dynamics, haven't decided yet.

A bit of rambling, but here's a picture comparison of SS3 in driving and flood, on the "darkest" road I can find here in the city. And the condensation after about a week and a half after the wash.

I have Rigid D-SS pods in driving pattern. I run through the car wash regularly, and pressure wash after muddy trips. No condensation yet. The light is phenomenal. I check out the Caliraised as well, but Rigid had nearly 3× the output.

Yeah, I loved the pattern, with that little driving, and side floodish, most likely a bad pair/seal, but the price and looks looked equivalent to ebay, and the run around left a bad taste for me. Too bad to support, I'll probably throw them on my teardrop for backup lights, so not all is lost.

Looks like the question has not been answered and will ask again.

what is better, spot or flood?

ditch lights are to light ditches. As the name says. Meaning pointed outwards into a ditch.

driving, fog, pencil beam, etc is irrelevant.
Those are for different positions to be mounted in the front bumper grill area to avoid hood glare.

DD shows on their diagram spot and flood are basically the same but with spot extending slightly further out.
I’d think flood is better because the name suggests that is what is for,
And the optic lens design looks better on that option.

I went with a Driving pattern and am still very happy with the decision after 3 and a half years. I get a lot of light in front and to the sides, and they make navigating through tight, wooden trails at night easy. Here's a crummy picture from a beach I play on sometimes.

so basically the ditch lights are not lighting ditches

and front bumper that can mount driving lights without glare is left un used

Where would the ditch be that would not be lit by these lights? I have plenty of light off to the sides of the vehicle, which is where I assume the ditch would be if you are driving parallel to it.

I have a spot pattern light bar in my bumper, so it is being used.
