Launch fees are $20 and up, way up. For example lake Comanche (great fishing) about 45 minutes from my house fees = vehicle and boat entrance $23, fishing fee per person $7.25, dog fee $6.50 (yes they charge for my dog who always goes with me). Some lakes have higher fees some less. The nice thing is N California has hundreds of lakes and reservoirs to choose from. I figure it is what it is, I choose to live here, I pay the price of living here. I don’t have to like it though.

C'mon man. Had a nice slow start, which was a mistake! Went out back to water pots, it was 100*. Needed a quick break halfway, it was 107*! Working on the outside garage lights update, came off the ladder for a break, and it's 109*!! That's it. Pool, and inside to cool down. They have been threatening some rain Tuesday, then Monday, now today!

And it's not going to come any further South.

Had boats for over 40 years. Grew up around them.
Temporarily gave it up 6 years ago.
20ft Grady w/350 IO and most recent was a Sea Ox 20 ft dual console with a Merc Opti 150. No cabin for the Ox. Tended to accumulate too much crap in a cabin.
Stripers were my thing and fished my ass off for them.
But, had to make a decision. Too many irons in the fire.
Marina fee, insurance, fuel,Winter shrink wrap, and costs when something broke. The Grady with the 350, I did most of the work. The Opti Max,can't work on that one, too high tech.
    Miss it? Of course.
Maybe later on, I'll get a small center console with a 50 that I can drag around.

Couple Stripers back in the day.
Full size Chevy tailgate for size scale...

Wow I had no idea. How ever up here if you own a snowmobile or 4 wheeler they have trail fees for grooming and maintenance. And your not allowed on them without an annual permit purchased upfront. Good for all trails for each season. Montana does the same thing. It works.
Minnesota has slot limits on the fish cought, walleye mostly on reservation lakes for non Indian fisherman. It's kinda funny In Minnesota now, they legalize pot. Right now only 2 reservations have dispensaries in Minnesota to sell it and the inferstructure in the rest of the state will not be up till 2025 they have the market for 2 years.

My benchmark and goal was landing a fifty pound Striper.
Had dozens in the 40s but no 50.
Closest I got was live lining in 6ft of water next to a rock pile.
Had it on for 45 mins and up to the boat. Had my hand on him and he made a last small run into the rocks and busted the leader.
    Was a legit 50# plus fish.:notsure:

    Evening all:

Those are some dandy Stripers there bucktales, the ones we catch are nowhere near that big, even the little ones can put up quite a fight, especially in current.

You need a California fishing license to fish all waters in calif. including ocean. With various stamps they run $60 to $100 annually. Some lakes like at Camanche you pay an additional daily fee to fish the lake per person. They plant that lake heavily with large trout and the daily fee goes to offset the cost of planting. Hunting licenses is a whole separate and with all the stamps range $100 or more.

    :eek::D

    Amen!

Off to the gym in a few for me. Have fun with the TV. I found that I get better streaming speeds with Wi-Fi rather than an ethernet connection. Seems that most TV's only have a 10/100 ethernet connection but the W- Fi connection offers greater than 100 mpbs speed. Why are major manufactures so cheap as to not include a 10/100/1000 mpbs ethernet connection.

Good morning. Breakfast down and now off to the gym. Need to check the sprinkler heads for the irrigation system when I get home. Going to make baked beans and tomato soup today.

Dam I just checked the hunting and fishing regs in state. I got so used to being raped on Minnesota out of state fees. I may have to look at it boat again. They offer a senior fishing license for 65+ $5. I'm used to spending 70+ across the border. But if you are fishing a stocked lake the additional cost isn't bad . You just have to catch them. I'm a catch and release guy. I enjoy fishing, but don't eat them. When I get a couple nice ones I will clean them up for my wife, she likes fresh caught fish. The lake I go to with the cabin has large mouth bass and some pan fish.
