    Every time I was my truck the Pre-collision detector stops working. After driving for a week it starts to work again. Why does it do that?

    Simple solution; quit washing your truck. :)

    But seriously, do you have similar symptoms when driving in the rain or just after a car wash?

    Check the electrical connections to insure they are securely water tight. Other wise you show its a 2023. This is a question for the Toyota service center.

    I've got temporary issues also when going through a heavy rain storm, or snow squall. I guess it covers up the sensor on the grill to the point you get a malfunction. It's fine once I pull over, and stop the truck to wipe it off. Imo, its just more nanny bs thats not needed.

    @Landonri45:
    I have never experienced this.
    It happened to me once during heavy snow with a rental, but not yet with my Taco.
    But then, New England hasn't had a real Winter since I got the Taco...
    Haven't ever experienced it in a rainstorm.

    It's a piss poor system, mine alerts on open roads with clear, sunny weather. But mine has never given me an error message in rain or after washing, you should have the dealer look at it.

    Did this start after you added the aftermarket grill?
    You might add details and maybe someone w same aftermarket grill can help.

    Mine errored out once during a heavy rain. It reset after rain stopped. Original SR grille.

    If you have an aftermarket grill I'd check electrical connector, a dab of dielectric grease wouldn't hurt, and clean the garnish covering sensor.

    I "shrouded" the top portion of my radar sensor assembly with some of that Gorilla rubber tape so that very little if any rain or snow can reach the actual sensor through the grill grate. I've had zero weather related issues with the system since doing so. 20230827_171002.jpg

    I've had something similar happen twice: both times immediately after driving out of rain (not even heavy rain). Got the BEEEEP as the cruise control disengaged and a message on the dash. About a minute later I was able to hit the cruise control button and get the "radar ready" again on the dash. Definitely not a days-long issue -- more like the sensor/computer getting temporarily confused.

    Have you had the grill off (i.e. disconnected the radar connector)? If yours is like mine, from the factory that thing is seated TIGHT. I'd really doubt water ingress if it's been seated again properly, but worth checking.

    Living just a few miles from ma., and ny's border in connecticuts nw corner, we get some serious whiteouts during the winter. I've experienced this on my 2020 a number of times in rain, or snow. I've accepted it, as just a fact of owning a nanny vehicle.
