2015 Tacoma smog pump

I have a 2015 Tacoma extended cab 4.0, 6 cylinder. Ive heard the smog pump noise at shut off...no sweat, but after an oil change i dont hear the smog pump noise anymore? it was annoying but i was fine with it, now not hearing it im worried something is wrong .. any thoughts?

 

Your saying it no longer runs at shutdown?
Does it still run on a cold start?

 

i dont hear it kick on at cold start. usually there's a similar "whir" noise at start up

 

I would expect it to throw a code and CEL if the pump wasn't working, did you check that the pump is still plugged in?

 

yeah it hasnt thrown a code from what i gather its still plugged in. i guess ill wait and see. i appreciate your feed back. it gives me a little more to look for and and some peace of mind as well.

 

Is it warm where you are? I think ambient temp comes into play ..

 

we are low 70's, lotsa rain lately.

 

Keep driving. There are only certain conditions when the smog pump runs and wont run (warmed up, just started, above\below a specific ambient temp etc wont re-run the pump). You are fine, just make sure to do the uni filter mod and pull the stock foam piece (keep stock parts tho)
