Guy at work (Master Diagnostic Tech) installed one on his 2010 just to see. Zero gains, but it sounds better.

There are three ways to make more power with these trucks.

Tune: @VangaSTL is the guy, and the tune won't make it a race car.... What it will do is allow your engine to run with what it's got, instead of the rather restrictive factory tune. Also simplifies throttle tables and shift logic. World of difference.

Regear: The trucks already make good power and good torque, but the transmission and differential gearing leaves a lot to be desired... By rearing your discs, you can gain some serious low end torque multiplication and if you don't go too far, you can still maintain excellent highway drivability. Without going larger than 33 inch tires, rearing to 4.88 is the go-to it would seem.

Super charger: there are bolt-on kits that are a little pricey, but they do bring quite a bit of firepower to the engine bay. The Magnuson kit was co-developed with Toyota and really won't break your engine, however, you will be required to retune for them and you'll be running premium fuel. Any games you make will be offset by the premium fuel cost.

Of course, the fourth way is to swap in a bigger/ more powerful engine, but at that point just go by a bigger or more powerful truck. Lol

All I needed to hear, thanks! Master Tech says “nothing gained”, then no need to try it haha. I appreciate all the responses from everyone.

I’ll focus spending my money on the lift kit!

Anyone have anything bad to say about either ICON RXT leaf packs or OME EL111R leaf packs? Either one significantly better than the other?

Both are excellent. The icon RXT series will give you more options as far as weight ratings and add a leaf etc. Some people will tell you certain brands of leaf springs squeak... All leaf springs squeak. Except for the OME dakar mediums under my truck which get fluid filmed and then covered in dirt and clay every year. For whatever reason, my truck is a veritable stealth machine. Lol

Really they all squeak?? Damn that’s what I figured I’d avoid if I bought the full up leaf pack as opposed to the AAL kit. Thanks for the heads up.

I’m not making a mall crawler or a overlander rig or pretending I drive off-road more than 3% of the time (basically no permanently added weight in front or rear), would I benefit from the versatile RXTs still or would ya say the OMEs would do me just fine? I realize it all depends, just curious in general.

Also does having a DCLB matter in any way for shopping for lift kits?

Race car parts make race car noises. Every mod you add may add a new sound to the truck. Nature of the beast

I could've sworn they had financially and legally separated from that asshole by now. But I can't find anything saying they have or have not. So... Time to stick with conventional wisdom and avoid them like the plague. And I realize this topic comes up once every two years or so and inevitably someone from somewhere will chime in with a different answer.

    :101010:

Fluid film your stuff. It will be less noisy.

Also regarding the engineering of various brands... Ommy are built in Australia. And the thing about wheeling down under... You either wheel correctly or you die. There's stuff has to be excellent. There are no other options. That being said, a number of us in here have beat the hell out of our OME stuff and it all holds up extremely well. So if you're not doing stupid things... It'll probably outlast you. And your truck.

Sick! And I love those crazy Aussies. Happy to buy their products!

    EDIT:

Here’s what I’m looking at (if anyone cares), and again I SUPER appreciate everyone talking to me today, thank you.

Good stuff. For that price you could get a full one nitro charger kit.

For the record, I don't know if they're nitro charger series is any longer lasting than a Bilstein shock series. Fielders choice I suppose

Icon is garbage anyway. Look elsewhere. It's probably the single most posted brand on TW for shock failure. At least since I last looked.

I ran those for a long while. Good stuff. I went beefier in the past year or so. 6112s up front, and swapped my rears for Fox 14" RR smoothies.

    Nah, they work well enough.

Then again, I got out of the complaint threads a while back. Too much drama

I was back in forth on what leafs I was going to order a few months ago and decided to go with the deaver's mostly because of a post on tacoma3g forum from archive garage. How much truth or bias there is to it, I don't know but like everyone else already said spray your shit with some fluid film and maybe it won't squeak too bad.

Now I just gotta bribe some friends to get my shit installed some Sunday hopefully soon.
