Rich, if makes you feel better, I'll buy something for my truck. I'll spend $1.00 more than you.

I'll be doing Black Bear Pass in 3 weeks on the way to Moab. Imogene Pass, too. Then we'll do a 160 mile, 2 day (says the guide) overland to Moab. My buddy doesn't know about the overlanding. He thinks we're going straight to Moab from Denver. Paging through the Funtreks guide, I stumbled on a trail called Rimrock. Starts in Montrose, Co and is an old route to Moab. Thanks to the OnX Offroad app I was able to mark the route in the gazetteers. Damn, some of those roads (trails) were hard to see on the maps.

When are you planning on being in Moab? We are looking at departing with the moving truck to AZ on Sep.11th. I will be trailering my truck behind the Uhaul and considering going through Utah/Moab on the way down to AZ. Maybe I will have time to stop and play for a day.... But like I said I'm just consedering that route still. Not sure if I want to drive an unknown moving truck with trailer through the mountain passes on I-70.

Camera is cheap and easy addition. It’s also useful in the garage to make sure you don’t run over something or at the mall so you don’t get too close to a bollard

Black bear pass is closed btw

    https://www.sanmiguelcountyco.gov/406/Road-Conditions

    rimrocker is open

you’ll want to check status before you go out, there was a lot of snowfall that hasn’t melted at higher elevations.

    don’t be like these people

I pick up my buddy in Denver on Sept 23rd. The plan is drive to Ouray via Shrine Pass and McAllister Gulch, and hit Black Bear pass that afternoon. If we have time, we'll do Imogene back to Ouray. If not, we'll grab a campsite near Telluride, and hit Imogene on Sunday. After Imogene we'll drive to Montrose and do the Rimrocker Trail for 2 days of x-country/backroad adventure. Should be in Moab late on the Tues. the 26th, or early Wed. the 27th. If Black Bear Pass is closed, we will be in Moab sometime Monday or early Tues.

Yeah, I saw that. I have 3 weeks to have the snow melt. If Black Bear Pass is closed when we get there, we'll skip Imogene and move on to Rimrock.

I do speak, and understand, English. But thanks.

Was a general statement given the most recent articles about entire convoys being stranded on Black Bear pass even though it's closed. No worries mate

No worries here. I was being my usual smart a$$. Plan C was the same as plan B, minus Black Bear and Imogene Pass if Black Bear is closed. Either way, we still goin' to be in the hills and the rocks.
