    Anyone have a combination of both a shop area and a gym area?
    I recently moved into a new house and finally have a garage. It's a single car width but a little longer than average. Right now it's filled with kid and moving stuff alongside all my tools and junk. Once all cleaned up and organized I'm looking to put a small set up for a power rack in the corner. Seeing if any of you have a similar set up.

    I built a small room in my garage, so it would be easier to heat when I work out in the Winter. I'll get some pics later. Nothing fancy, just some basics.

    @badphish14

    I have a 4 car pole barn type garage, so I could dedicate some space. I put up two walls in a corner to give me a 10' x 16' rm. Drywalled inside and out. I put 1/2" insulation up for ceiling. I heat it with a propane heater on cold days. I scrounged that old fireplace mantle from a house that was being demolished. It's just for decoration.
    Had my heavy bag up (basement) at my last house, but yet to get it hung. Just doesn't work in this small space.
    From Rural King Store I bought the 1/2" rubber livestock mat for the floor ( https://www.ruralking.com/rubber-stall-mat-3-x-4-x-1-2 ) . Works great for dropping dumbells. I have a temp plastic door I put up to heat and keep grinding dust out.
    I made the squat rack and the speedbag platform. Those are 2" oak blocks with 4.5" lag bolts holding them to the wall studs. I not a heavy weight kinda guy, so the rack is plenty strong. Platform is two 3/4" thick boards for good firm rebound.

    It's coming along nicely, but I still need more dumbells and to make a rack for plates and bells. Would like A/C (220 outlet already installed) and a larger window too!

    That’s a dream. Wish I had the space to do something like that.

    Yeah, I feel pretty lucky to have it. I worked hard to get the money, but still....

    This Winter though, I went ahead and joined the YMCA for more motivation. I will be suspending that membership here pretty soon. At $45/month, plus the gas to drive there, it's a bit pricey. Especially when now I can jog outdoors and lift in the garage without being cold.

    I used to! It was pretty awesome for awhile, but it eventually turned into a full time shop and I got a gym membership 3 blocks away. Had a squat rack/bench mounted to the wall so it only stuck out into the room about 2.5 feet. Had a flat bench that I could stand up out of the way, a hand full of kettle bells, dumbbells, barbell and bumperplates. All of that could store under one of
    My workbenches really easily so you could only really see the squat rack while in shop mode.

    Pretty much the set up I’m looking to go with. When we bought this house my wife was 7 months pregnant with twins and our son was only 14 months. During the move everything was dumped into the garage which was a huge mistake on my part! Basically have another months worth of work just getting organized then build a workbench on casters then gym time. Hopefully by June it will be in working order haha

    I put the weights in the living room and called it good

    Built my son a 16x12 garden shed. 1/2 is used for his gym, the other half for garden tools, winter tires etc since he has no garage. Insulated, panelled with old fence boards. Rubber stall mats for flooring. Seems to work well for him.
