No, I’m over in Pensacola so well west of landfall. Might get some rain from feeder bands as they wrap around but nothing major.

First I've seen of this thread aimed at folks in my age bracket and it's already paying dividends. I almost forgot to call the furnace guy before everyone else does. Thanks for the reminder!

The problem we have mostly is the signal is cutting out. The speeds are a tad faster than DSL. When I am using my phone I mostly use the phone data.

    Will check into a booster.

I did find a thread here on TW. I will also check out YouTube university.

Very true, you need some signal to boost but if you do, they work. A system with a decent yagi antenna should pull in a signal better than an internal on a phone.

I don't quite understand it all, but I have a booster in my yard and the fence keeps everyone else away so I get good signal in my conex but nothing 10' out the gate.

The conex is essentially a big faraday cage which will block signal from going through it. But you’re right, the amplifier output is best within a small area and drops off exponentially the further you move away from it.

Tried starlink in the forest but did not work...........at all. If you have trees it won't. Cell booster is a good answer. I have weboost and it's great. We also have a ATT Nighthawk Hotspot and it's awesome but needs an antenna. Lots of choices out there.
    Who is your provider?

The provider is Ethonet. They're local severing rural customers. They run their signal off of cell towers. I can see the tower when there are no leaves on the trees, only a few trees not whole forest. The cellphone company's that provide internet service are using the same towers.

Well for example, I was in West Virginia and had one bar. Plugged in the weboost and had 3 bars immediately. If you have any signal at all, a booster will improve your signal. As far as internet, a 10db gain antenna will help too. I'm putting one up in a day or so. I have great download but upload to post pictures and such sucks. This will help.

My brother-in-law-in-law said one night in Vegas, possibly after a few martinis while we were celebrating their 30-something anniversary: "17 WONDERFUL years of marriage"

I simply refuse to let him live it down . . . generally I get to "17 Won" and we are giggling like little girls. Our wives, not so much.

Those of us that have boosters at work all use weboost. One of our LE just got the latest and greatest that's supposed to be better. The box looks a lot different and is about $100 more than the last "latest and greatest" (the 2 I have). I personally own one but haven't mounted it yet. I may give it to the boys to mount in one of their trucks since they do a lot of fishing and don't always have more than a bar or two) then I'll get theatest and greatest.

Back at my last home in a rural area of northern CA, we had either HughesNet satellite (absolutely sucked) or a local wireless internet provider (essentially WiFi on steroids). We had HughesNet for a year, then got tired of their data cap (which their TV ads claim they don't have.... yes they do!), and went with the local wireless provider. We had 3 of their broadcast towers within good distance of our house. Problem was, the two primary towers were blocked by hills. We could only get a limited signal from their backup tower. We could get 10 - 15 Mbps, which sucked, but was just enough to stream TV and for me to work from home without the video/voice quality of Zoom calls degrading too much. Problem was, since that was the company's backup tower, it did not have a generator, so when the local utility company would pull the plug because of idiot California's "reg flag weather" warnings, which happened all the time in the hot summer, we lost internet since the providers tower went down.

We initially had Comcast cable internet/TV before we bought that house, and assumed it would be available at the house when we moved from the apartment we had been in. Found out that nope, no Comcast on our new street. When i asked if they could bring it to us, they claimed there were too few potential customers on our new street to make it worth their while, and claimed it would cost $200,000 for whatever permits, labor and materials to run a long to our street.

Here at our place in KY, we are fairly rural, but we have Spectrum cable internet. It's been pretty solid so far, but recently found out, when I reported a multi day outage, that our house is at the end of a very long service line, and so we get the bare minimum strength signal needed for the cable modem to function, and every couple months, we have sporadic drops for a day or so. At least I can hotspot from my phone when that happens.
