We get boys or full grown men if you want to say that , which will argue you to their death that say , oh those things don't work . BS . I've had one in my in my Tacoma since day one . Every 3k I empty my canister and let me tell you that it collects plenty. Least I know that my intake manifold is plenty clean and have no worries . Heck winter months looks like a mocha coffee in the canister . Least we see the benefits .

be careful in the winter months, the "mocha" you refer to is condensation/moisture, water in the oil... and it will freeze in the bottom of the reservoir, like a hockey puck. prematurely filling the resi.

I have a J&L oil separator on my 19 sport, i always thought some sort of filter media, or absorbant media would be nice in the resi's. has anyone found a filter to fit their resi? Ski

Pretty nifty idea, think I'm gonna do the same. Did you try a Tacoma filter element already - was it too wide to fit?

Here in north west Washington we hardly get below 30°F during our winter months so I'm not too worried.

Having this made by a local guy soon. Hopefully it works for a 2018. I'll post a picture when it's finished.

Mine was a bit pricey but made-in-USA and very well built. This is the one they recommend for Tacos:
    https://www.saikoumichi.com/s1_oil_catch_can.html

I had it for about six years. Not smog legal in CA but mine has gone undetected twice now.

My 90k mile motor I just pulled, the valves were fairly clean. Nothing worth worrying about. Only thing I noticed was a bit of oil film buildup on the intake, but every car has that. No catch can.

I thought the JL can had a filter and a screen to condensate the fluids from the vapor. What would a filter do other than take away volume from the can?

My JL is just an empty can. unless they came out with a new option for the cans. I usually drain it a couple times between oil changes. just a few ounces but, I would rather do that, then to have it over fill, and back feed. Ski

IMG_6525.jpg Even with Dacon's draft of the can bracket, I'm having trouble figuring out the length and width to tell my fab guy. If anyone has any suggestions? That would be appreciated. Areas I need measurements are green.

The JL has a metal screen in the top of the catch can. You're suppose to clean it every 10/15k miles to prevent buildup.

Anybody try this oil filter idea in their can to give the mist something to condense onto?
