Hi I recently purchased a laser jammer kit to add to my tacoma. I am currently in the process of planning the install. Police most often target the headlights when shooting laser and the two side heads are recommended to mounted as near to the headlights as possible.

I was wondering if anyone who has installed the meso trim plates knows if there is any space behind the trim plate? I have not been able to find a single video or photo showing what it looks like behind the trim plate.

Even 3-4" depth would be sufficient to allow a perfect place to mount them, and because the trim plates aren't too expensive I can get creative trying to cut a clean mount without worrying about ruining some expensive toyota part.

    Thanks for your help.

Would it be easier just to drive a speed closer to the speed limit?

Anti laser priority are the only Jammers capable of defeating dragon eye. Here is my grill Tx sensor in middle and two Rx sensors on left and right. You can barely notice them.

    I use a radar detector . . . in my BMW . . .
I can't drive the truck aggressively enough to warrant moving the radar detector between vehicles.. ..
And I drive like a dick..

I don’t drive that fast but I’d rather have a quality radar detector (I run a Uniden R8) and a laser jammer (which are completely legal in most states) because it is far cheaper than a ticket after insurance even if it’s just a ticket for 10 over the speed limit.

Yea I planned to put the VPR head in the center but I was hoping to be able to put Rx in the headlight spot because it’s the spot most cops try to hit. Clean install though.

    Are Laser Jammers Legal?
Laser Jammers are illegal in California, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Washington D.C. However, since there is no federal law banning them, they can be used in other states.

Laser jammers work by transmitting invisible light sources back to the original police laser gun (or LiDAR gun) to confuse it. These types of laser guns are much more direct and allow officers to pinpoint a single vehicle more effectively. The return signal confuses the laser gun, and as a result, the officer cannot “clock” the driver’s speed.

    https://www.automoblog.net/are-radar-detectors-legal/

I'd be extremely careful on jamming LEO's device signals, some have the ability to seek a jamming signal.

Not enough space behind the trim plate.

An infrared LED light bar should completely overwhelm lidar, according to a Car and Driver article I read years ago. Full deniability as a jammer, but draws a lot of power.

Good to know. Since OP is in NOLA, that means they shouldn't be taking the Tacoma on road trips to Austin.

True story - I ran a radar detector for my first 15 years of driving. I got rid of it because all of my friends, coworkers, and ex-wife either found the mute button or complained incessantly about the noise.

A funny thing happened - My frequency of traffic tickets dropped to near-zero after getting rid of it. (one ticket every 10 years or so is my current average, vs 3 per year when I had the detector.) Huh.

I had an Escort Passport 8500 for 15yr till it died - now I have a Uniden R3

Both are pretty basic but they do the trick, no problem.
Kept me safe thru 2x traps yesterday [and then the same 2x OTW home]

I used to get stopped all the time, but I'm pretty sure it was a combination of my age [under 35] and my car [slammed white BMW 328is with limo tint].
I haven't been stopped in like 8yr now - still drive pretty much the same but I have a grey 128is with light grey tint.
Had a few cops pull up next to me, take a look at me [after taggin' me] and then drive off; a middle age white lady isn't worth it?
    :notsure:

Either way, I'm super nice when it does happen - yes sir/no sir hands on the wheel till they approach.
Don't admit shit, go to court, plead to a lesser charge - last time LEO noted I was nice and they let me plead to a non/moving violation, paid the $300 and moved on.

the purpose of a jammer is to give you time to respond, it doesn't make you invisible.
