Best Dash Cam?

Been testing the fitcamx 4k for a month with 128 GB card and rear camera. 5 minute install, no problems, and using latest ios app I actually like the software.

Rear camera uses cheap standard off the shelf extension cables if needed.

True, but the license plate clarity of this one was far superior to the other ones tested. I'd say that's worth it for a little extra cost up-front.

Quick follow-up for Fitcamx 4k performance testing. I added the Garmin CPL filter and tested lic plate readability while driving directly into the sunset. The lens is apparently not centered well enough because the filter edge is visible on the left side of the frame and is fixed in place by a couple drops of Bondic adhesive. The attached image is extracted via VLC at 4k resolution as a typical example. In brief, it is not bad but is certainly not as good as the Vantrue license plate readability shown above.

Also the camera image brightness is not adjusted after adding the filter so it is a bit dark, as expected.

What does this filter actually do ? My resolution looks good think.

 

Just installed my front 4k and rear setup, ordered from Amazon the rear is the full 360 updated version. Install was simple although I agree with the 2 common complaints which are tucking the wires up when putting the front camera in place and having way too much wire to the rear. So far very satisfied overall, will see how well it lasts in the long run.

 

In a couple sentences, circular polarized light does not have the variation in magnitude of the E and B fields of 'typical' light we are used to thinking about but instead the two fields rotate with constant phase in time. It's an orthogonal solution to the wave equation vs. linear polarized light which is what occurs upon reflection. CPL filters thus filter out nearly all sharp reflections, giving more contrast and less obfuscation based on reflections that mask detail.
