Hi to all…. I have a brand new 2023 Tacoma Sport Double Cab with a basic premium audio/nav system. When the sound system (music) is on and I use the fade to move the sound to the rear speakers, the volume drops out of those two speakers and sound like they are under water. It has been checked by the dealer, no codes or recalls, and they say it is what it is. It has also been compared to another vehicle on the showroom floor. Sounds the same. I have also had it looked at (listened to) by to different sound/audio shops and telling them anything other can they check my system. Both say something is not correct. Both say it sounds like the rear speakers are not getting enough power from the AMP. Does anyone else experience this issue?

    no problem buddy!
To answer your question; yes it seems normal. I don't mess with my settings, I set it and forget it, but I do remember mine being very front heavy.

Rear speakers arent set up for full range, just for a bit of sound fill.

Most audio heads completely disable them.

    NORMAL

Yes, unfortunately normal. A bit disappointing. There have been a few mods to deal with that issue floating around this site.

I just purchased a 2023 Tacoma at $45K and my rear speakers perform the same during fade. I didn't have this issue with my 2022 Tacoma. It's amazing that many people in other threads make excuses for this defect. This is not how your speakers should be working and for you to suggest that I spend more money on a new system is not acceptable. I get it's not a big deal but it's still a problem that should be fixed.
If you have this problem go to the dealer and complain. I have a 2022 Toyota Sennia mini van that doesn't have this problem and it sounds great. My recommendation is that you take the time and write a letter to Toyota. If I do that I will post it here and all you need to do is print and mail. Think about this.. you just spent $40-$50K on a defective truck, what will you let our government get away with when they take all of your money out of the banks? If we all work together we protect ourselves.

BTW, be careful about double-posting, mods tend to frown on it and it just causes confusion.

The speakers are garbage in these trucks . Take them out and u will see they are some cheap paper speakers that weigh nothing have a tiny magnetic and require little power .best thing is to swap them out for something u like . U will never be happy with those stock speakers .

If this is anything like the audio in the 2018, the amp for the rear speakers is very weak and has a weird eq. I put an amp with a 32band eq front and rear and the rear speakers now sound great even with the stock head unit.

My 2022 OR had the same quirk. I ended up ripping the whole stereo out and replaced it with an Alpine ILX-507 with an amp and Type R speakers (coax in the rears and components in the front).

The rear is attenuated in the factory head unit. Especially below 120hz bc they don’t want the paper cones to blow. Start by replacing the head unit if you must have full range in the rear of the system to be happy. Most ppl pull the rear speakers and deaden the doors with butyl and CCF (Closed cell foam)

Yep. Agree on all counts. Have replaced all six speakers including the rears and added sound deadener to the outer door skins for improved bass (and overall quietness). For my money the biggest bang for the buck are DS18 tweeters. BIG difference for non-JBL stereos. The others help for sure, but replacing the head unit would be the next step, that and a subwoofer. The options are endless.
