Susan, also if you are far enough South - those "firecracker" plants may just survive the winter. even if they don't you may be able to carry some over if you have a spot in your home where they can "winter". The plants' clippings root well -I have about 6 that I experimented with and they took roots and are still living with a few flowers on them. No if I could figure out what I am going to do with these this winter in Missouri? here is couple more hummer shots.

 

Beautiful little birdies Mark! Must be migrating this week , because it's packed! But still only one feed at a time!

 

We visited a house with a garden geared to hummers, and would like to grow more plants that they could feed on. We have a very large butterfly bush, which they seem to like... but the wife would like them to have some natural forage especially when we travel and she can't be around to fill the feeders.

Thanks for the info on the plants. We'll try to remember them when we do our spring plant/seed buying.

Evening Porch Folks

Hope everyone down South in Florida survived the hurricane okay.

Spent the day making doctors and ultra sound appointments for my back. Get a shot on the 7th of Sept. and it works. Ultra sound is for renal cyst on my left kidney to see how big it is and what is the game plan . The past few months have not been the best but on a good note, it's heading up country to our upstate neighbors corn roast on Saturday. Good friends, good beer, and lots of corn
